Re: A Gaze of Mork- An Ork Blog (Epic and 40k)

    Hi again!

So today I've been a busy Epic bee, and have finished painting the 11 Flakk wagons (the 12th is going to be a squiggoth) as well as building my Gargant!

I'm well on track to having my 3000 points finished during the weekend, which is good.

    Here is Froggaz Flakk Parade:

And here is my hashed together Gargant, The Gorkzilla:

    Hi,

As promised I have completed 3000 pts of my Epic Ork army, adding my unit of Flakk wagons and my Gargant (1000pts) this weekend.

I'm pretty pleased with my Gargant, The Gorkazilla, considering he's a hash of bitz and pieces.

    Here he is:

Hope you like him! I'll probably wait until I play test my Epic list before adding more points. I'm not sure if I should take a little Battle Fleet Gothic break or continue with my 40k list...

    More soon!

Thanks for your comment Kublai. I use thick plactic card for the bases. I score it, snap it, and sand the edges before tidying up with a knife=cheap bases! The plastic card I bought from modelzone (uk) and was ~£1.50 for a sheet of A4.

Cheers Razormasticator, your comments are always very flattering and appreciated.

Today i finished painting a Weirdboy but the water effects are still drying so a photo will have to wait until tomorrow.
I have put an article over on my blog about opponents, if anyone is interested.

    Hi,

Today I'm sharing, as promised, my completed weirdboy.

While I have been pondering building an ork battle fleet gothic fleet for my very own, I have been painting up a weirdboy for my 40k army. I decided to use my favourite Orc fantasy model for this since I figured his huffy hunch and staff create a moody yet mental weirdboy look...The mystic pool still needs a few more layers of water effects, but you get the idea!

I modelled the Gorkazilla with feet (like the stompaz).

At the moment I've been work on a Battle fleet gothic Ork fleet. Due to lack of funds I want to make this as cheap as possible (and therefore avoid the GW models).

So far I've finished a battleship (Hammer Class Battlecruizer), and have started some brute ram ships (which I will blog about when the are completed).

To begin with I hit my local Modelzone shop and hunted down some kits to use for my fleet. I bought a Conflix kit (£6.99):

This was the only Conflix kit the store had, so I snapped it up. I have pictures of the sprues included in the kit, if your interested, ask and I'll PM them to you/add a sprue post.

I also bought a Revel Long Beach boat kit which was in the sale (£4.99):

Armed with a load of new bitz, and my exisiting bitz box, I started to kit bash a Battleship.
I wanted my ship to look like an Orky hodge-podge, a messy hulk suitable for a crazy Mek.

Here are some shots (pre-green stuffing):

Next I green stuffed any major gaps, filed down (or roughned up) some edges, and started painting.

Here are shots of the finished Ship:

I decided to base my Fleet on Star-Space themed bases. I used some glitter and paint for the stars. Here is a base shot:

    Hi Everyone,

Today I have finished 5 'converted' Brute Ram ships for my Homemade Battlefleet Gothic Ork army. To build these (on my low budget) I used jet packs from the Ork stormboyz kit. I had this kit lying around already and I figured I could use the stormboy bodies for some special looking orks so they won't be wasted

Here are some pictures of my finished Brute Ram ships:

Here they are alongside my Battleship:

Also, on Friday I played a 3000pts game of Epic. It was the first game I'd played with my Gargant. It resulted in a draw and was loads of fun. I used the game as an excuse to take a 3000pts army shot:

Re: A Gaze of Mork- An Ork Blog (Epic and 40k)

    Hi Everyone,

It's been a little while since I blogged about my Orks, but that doesn't mean they have been neglected! They've been getting plenty attention.

I now have well over 1500pts painted, which is superb timing given the release of 6ed (which I'll post about another time (so far, 4 games played=its awesome!)).

The newest additions are my Squiggoth and my Killakans.

My Squiggoth, named Dim, has played in 5 games so far and has never disappointed. I've been using him to ferry 10 shoota boys (inc. a big shoota and a nob with a powerklaw) into the centre of a battle or to last minute claim an objective. He's pretty robust, ace in combat and his cannon occasionally is useful. I also painted up two grot crew (also forgeworld) to place on him once the boyz have disembarked (someone needs to load the cannon!).

Enough talk, here are the pictures:

The second new addition are my killakans. I LOVE these models. I'm planning to have a lot of these, but decided to equip my firsth three with Rokkits. I also decided to convert them so you can see the controlling grotz (a common conversion, but too good to refuse .

I've played with these in 5 games and to be honest they have been a bit rubbish. The new edition especially (2 hull points) means you just have to look at these guys and they die, but oddly I don't mind. They look awesome and if my enemy is shooting at them, then they aren't shooting at my more powerful units.

    Here are the pictures:

A few more shots on my blog

Also, I have a few items on ebay (Nurgle Daemon Prince, Nurgle Daemon Herald and a Death Korps Commissar). Check out my Blog post for pictures (and links to ebay) .

Those Killa Kans are superb BC, and the Squiggoth is not slouch either.

Re: A Gaze of Mork- An Ork Blog (Epic and 40k)

    Hi,

I have now finished +1500pts of my Ork army. I've played a few 40k armies (Nids, Tau, Space Wolves and briefly Dark Eldar...), and have found none half as fun as Orks. I enjoy the play style, the conversion potential and the character of the models. However after painting so many Orks, I felt a bit restless....

To combat this, I decided to do a side project. I wanted a side project which would allow conversions, game variety and a higher standard of painting, but not look too out of place playing along side my current army. Despite the temptation of an 'allied' force, I settled on a Grot army! It is important this army has a totally different play style and appearance than my Deathskulls, so its refreshing to build/paint. However, I still want it to 'mesh' with my current army to allow me to 'mix and match' units between the two.

I will post an army list later (maybe even tomorrow , but it will include Mega grotz, killa kans, grot tanks, shoota grotz and Trukks. For now, here is my test model, a Shoota Grot:

Hope you like 'im. More soon (I built my first "Mega Grot" and hope to paint him tonight/tomorrow

Re: A Gaze of Mork- An Ork Blog (Epic and 40k)

    Hi,

Thanks Razormasticator, your encouragment is appreciated (as always .

As mentioned in my previous post, to combat painting boredom, I’ve embarked upon a Grot army side project. This will allow variety and different challenges to help keep me motivated. The bonus of this project is that it fits in well with my existing Ork army, allowing me to use units straight away.

My ultimate 1,500pts Grot army will consist of:

    HQ:
Warboss (Mega armour, Cybork body, Bosspole and Attack squig) = 130pts
Big Mek (Kustom force field and Cybork body) = 95pts

    Troops:
    5 x Mega Nobs Grotz (Rokkit launchaz) = 225pts
Trukk (Red paint job) = 40pts
12 x Shoota Boyz Grotz (1 x “Nob” (Powerklaw, Bosspole and ‘eavy armour) and 1x Big shoota) = 122pts
    - Trukk (Red paint job) = 40pts
11 x Shoota Boyz Grotz (1 x “Nob” (Powerklaw, Bosspole and ‘eavy armour) and 1x Big shoota) = 116pts
    - Trukk = 35pts
    19 x Grotz Snotlings + Runtherder = 67pts

    Elite:
    4 x Grot tanks (1 x kommanda and 4 x Rokkit launchaz) = 195pts
    4 x Grot tanks (1 x kommanda and 4 x Grotzookaz) = 175pts

    Fast attack:
Grot Mega Tank ( T.L Big shoota, T.L Rokkit launcha, 2x Skorchaz, Rokkit launcha and Red paint job) = 125pts

    Heavy support:
    Killakanz ( 3x Grotzookaz) = 135pts

Once I have built and painted this core, I will start adding Deffkopters, Big Guns and maybe some buggies, since all three of these units are missing from my Ork army. I have decided to use all of the Ork codex stats, despite the models being grotz. To make this seem less ridiculous, I’ll make an effort to make the grotz look ‘arder and stronger. For example, the shoota grot I posted yesterday has spikey shoulder guards (explaining why he’s T4), and his lower BS could be explained by weapon recoil...

When designing this list, I really tried to go for a completely different play style to my Ork list, and since a high amount of converting will be needed I wanted to keep the model count relatively low.

Just to clarify too, I will still be continuing with my Ork army (and am in fact in the middle of painting some more camo shoota boyz to bulk that unit up to 20), but want something to do when I fancy a change.

Here are pictures of my first Mega Grot. I used killakan bitz and scratch built the box the grot sits in. I’m pleased with how it has turned out, and look forward to building 4 more (and maybe a more elaborate 5th one for my warboss):

A couple more pictures on here

Hope you like my it...nothing quite like distracting yourself from greenskins with greenskins...
