That was an incredibly mean match-up, that must have been rough but it seems you did learn from it though which is the important thing, I hope it was fun.
Guardians were the first unit I ever bought when i first started 40k ._. later as I learned the game they made me sad
Wraithlords in Footdar are awesome- you need them.
I view guardians really as a heavy weapon that might get off some shots, a warlock to provide wraithsight, and bullet fodder.

Yer the guardians are a real disappointment. I used to have a tiny bit of success with them but now they just plain suck. Lord knows how they ever did anything.
And while the space wolves were effective at killing me, i hope i did learn a little something.
Just remember, that guardians are there to be cheap boots on the ground and cannon fodder, or cover saves for dudes behind them-keep them cheap, and surprise opponents by having your warlock kill a tank.
I've had far more success with storm guardians in a mechanized list- give them 2 flamers and a destructor warlock, use tanks to tank shock your opponents into an optimal flamer pattern. Even power armor will fall to that many saves-doom the target for added fun. Seriously, it is quite fun turning a full strength mob of boyz into a nob with a wound with my patented E-Z-Bake oven- guaranteed or your money back.
And the greatest part about it? As long as you move your tanks less than 12", you can still shoot with them.

Ouch.I do like to see bolter fire mowing down foot armies, though
I felt you were a bit unlucky - whirlwinds should only statistically hit 1/3, but from your report it seemed to land with precision....every time. Next time I would bring Dark Reapers to destroy transports, and maybe a Falcon to provide long range firepower
