    Scions of Hashut

Hello, this is my new log for Chaos Dwarfs.

First up a conversion for Hobgoblins, now I was toying with the idea of converting them from skaven clan rat models with night goblin heads, but I want more of a mechanical/industrial look to my hobgoblins to match the new look of Chaos Dwarfs.

Eventually I kitbashed these together which still need arms and some gs around the joints. They kind of remind me of the small masked creature in Van Helsing, which is just fine imo.

I would like to think of them as the overseer militia over the slaves toiling the furnaces of the chaos dwarfs, where long days of inhaling noxious fumes and corrosive smoke would eventually kill any mortal organism (barring the Dawi Zharr themselves). So Hellsmiths constructed devices to filter the suite, whilst the masks protect eyes and prevent the smoke form entering the breathing apparatus of the Hobgoblin overseers; the fiddly work of stiching skin into masks is left to the Hobgoblins (hence the botch job).

Their noses and ears are removed for air tight masks. So I will be making a Hob goblin Khan holding his mask with a mutilated Goblin head, no nose or ears, and potentially no lips.

Chaos Dwarfs will be making an appearance soon.

Nice fluff and the conversions fit with it well and should look good next to the Chaos Dwarfs. I look forward to seeing the Hobgoblin Khan.

@Student, cheers, I've made no start on teh Khan, not sure what body to use but Ill probably try and get hold of the chaos militia officer torso and use that as a starting point.

    @pointyteeth, thanks.

@bildo, yes more or less, just goblin like.

Here are some pictures of some Dwarves and the start of my K'daai destroyer.

First up my sorcerer Prophet, his left hand is from the hellsmith (I really like that axe), He obvisouly comes on a taurus but I really want my sorcerer on a Lamassu, though i wont be using the finecast lamassu, for him, I'll be using the Preyton once it's released and converting it into one.

Here's my Hellsmith for a Kitbashed dread quake mortar I'm making, I decided to give him the crucible, as if he was making the ammunition then and there.

And my K'daai destroyer, initially I had very little plans for the Taurus, and mainly got the model for Drazhoath (i really really like the sculpt), but it grew on me and and eventually decided to make a destroyer akin to the one in Tamurkhan, so more balrog like sheathed in a black smoky suit and breaking apart at certain points into fire and molten metal. I had some issue assembling this miniature, it's fantastically sculpted but the pieces fit just awfully, green stuff is definitely needed. There's still a lot to do, predominantly horns and flames.

Nice to see some FW Chaos Dwarfs! They are great models.

I never really like Chaos Dwarfs before... the silly hats and the big noses... but I'm very impressed with what FW did with these. The Taurus is an amazing monster model I think. I'm considering getting one even though I don't like Chaos dwarfs much!

Looking forward to seeing you paint these!

They really are nice models, the hats are still big though and the're noses some what long and pointed, but not to a ridiculous extent; the Taurus is a good miniature but like I said it's a bit of a let down on how bad the pieces fit, but otherwise beautifully sculpted .

    Thanks!

Forgeworld are often poor with fit. My Warpfire dragon had huge gaps, and required a lot of filler!

To be entirely fair it is the first forgeworld model I've had problems with fit, usually they fit very smoothly.

anyway onto some pics, I said early on i would be waiting for the Preyton to be released to make a lamassu...not anymore. I've begun sculpting the body for my own. The wings are kindly donated from the taurus whihc is of course now my k'daai. The head of teh lamassu will come from the smaller Curs'd ettin head, I'll be ordering one this week and hacking that head off, then the ettin itself will be converted into a one armed siege giant along with the left over bits of the taurus.

    here is the wip lamassu.

with the sorcerer (I've changed the helm decoration, the other one felt to bulky and cumbersome)

    and the taurus..

the horns come from the confrontation flesh golem kit and the blades around the face from storm vermin helms.

    Re: Scions of Hashut

Update. Ended up rehashing my plan of ordering an ettin and continuing the lammasu so i can fulfil a more maniacal purpose,

I've decided to go down the more steam punk/technologically obsessed route with the army. There will be very few chaos dwarves and rather more mechanical monstrosities or tech adapted units. The initial hobgoblins will fill in as infernal guard, so like a black orc variant of hobgoblins.

Here are some wip of my latest stuff, decided to convert the k'daai further; however I think I may be using it rather as an incarnate elemental of fire/hashut as I would like to be making my destroyer more like a construct rather than the balrog/fire daemon.

And my sorcerers new mount, the lammasu sculpt is on standby as I want my prophet to ride a chaos dwarf variant of a gyrocopter, the Hell kite, it will be using the stats of a great taurus. The gyrocopter is powered by bound daemons, pushing valves and pistons to get through to the imprisoned chaos dwarf captives whihc act somewhat like fuel, slowly they burn from with, a gristly end for the disobedient acolytes.

    Still very wip-

    Re: Scions of Hashut

First off some background of the army.

Mot Tohrno (Hellvise) – My Sorcerer Prophet
Undisputed Lordling of the Cindering Pit, Mot Tohro has reigned over the choking waste of U’Hmo Khemator for two centuries. His Keep has not come from incentive but rather as punishment, Mot was one of the nine creators of the war mongering race known as the Black Orcs. Through ingenuity, malice, dark science and despicable magic Mot and his brethren created a stock of Orc unlike the world has seen; but their conceited souls turned to be their unmaking. Their creations revolted and brought the Dawi Zharr Empire to its knees. Six of the first creators were executed by the Black Orc revolt the reaming three were exiled to darkest corners of the Darklands. Mot’s infernal genius knows no bounds, and the enduring of his exile is testament to his brilliance. He has fashioned a metropolis from ash and Fire, his despotic rule furthering his return to Zharr-Naggurund.

    U’hmo Khemator (The Cindering Pit)
Mot was given sovereignty of the Cindering pit. A blasted pit delving into an abyss of smoke, here an army of the enslaved toil ceaselessly mining further into the walls of the pit, and further into a darkness unknown. U’hmo is vile land, dead of all natural life, barren of water and despoiled beyond repair, the earth cracks and bleeds spumes smoke and foul burning ichors. The cursed land produces no nourishment and even wild Taurus steer away from this most inhospitable of wastes; but the revolting land produces a dire essential to the Lords of the Dark Lands, Black Iron. This metal has burned for centuries within the depths of the black pit smouldering and burning itself away to concentrated pockets of mineral. The Iron now no longer burns by natural means requiring Daemon Fires to smelt the metal once more, a metal so dense and heavy to be able to withstand the perpetual furnaces of the Chaos Dwarves; and fashion the frameworks from which the K’daai, the burning daemon kin, are bound within.

The Sulphorous Watch – infernal Guard
The Watch is the Dawi Zharr Host of the pit, guarding interminably from marauding assaults, or worse, rebellion from within. A number of slaves the likes of which only the Zharr-naggurund has to contend, the Sulphorous Watch operate as overseers, police and warhost of the Pit.

Ash Dogs – War slaves counts as Hobgoblins
The Cindering Pits have the largest host of slaves outside the gates of Zharr- Naggarund, though many perish within the first days mining, those that meet injuries before choking on the black air are removed from their chained line by the Sulphurous Watch, should their injuries prove too dire they are despatched, thrown into the pockets of lava that wriggle to and forth the Pit; those unfortunate are kept alive. The Watch inflict terrible wounds on their captives by burning away their eyes, noses and ears, and keeping these fighting slaves for their own amusement, releasing these blind insane beings on each other and waging their rations. When the Cindering Pit is assaulted, either from marauding greenskins or raiding ogres the Ash Dogs are relased from their chained pens and goaded into battle, though inevitably the blind monstrosities are likely to strike each other or charge furiously towards a barren direction.

and some pictures of my Ash Dog (counts as hobgoblins), I've made ten so far, but will like 20-30 in the army.

Edit: The army is gonnahave a big revamp, decided to drop the steam punk vibe and going to follow more around a K'daai centered army.

Nice job on that destroyer! Converting bale tauruses seems a popular optiom right now.

    Re: Scions of Hashut

Thanks Satan, though big change of heart wont be using the bale taurus as a destroyer, still a K'daai in concept, but used as a bale taurus...

@Samanos,thanks, well I was going to use it as a destroyer, but plans have changed.

@Vaftrudnir, cheers, hope I don't dissapoint with the new changes of theme.

Well, first things first, I'm going back to my first original idea with the army, a heavily K'daai based army, mainly because i could make my own fireborn form some bits and sculpting.

So steampunk theme is dropped, gone, forever, whihc means I wont be using nay of those guard, but they're almost on their way to a new home . The Sandcrawler style iron daemon is still a potential though, as it still ties in with the mining and the ash dogs, but i doubt the Hellkite will go further. Which means I can, eventually, buy me some infernal gaurd.

Now Back to fire, brimstone and daemonic horrors fashioned from souls and molten metal. Already edited the Fluff I've written above, so thats staying as is.

The K'daai destroyer conversion isss.. now back to being a Bale Taurus.. well sort of. It's a K'daai mount, no wings but never burns out; still need to write the fluff but seeing as Mot creates new breeds (black orcs) he is able to contain the power of the K'daai by fusing the cold solid copper heart of a Great Taurus within teh frameworks of K'daai. The heart allows the constant refusing of metal and never allows the framework to completely burn out.

The idea was inspired mostly by this picture (man i love this concept) Nver been one for a taurus with wings but a giant bull with a little dwarf surveying over the top.

    http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=gre...w=1366&bih=667

This and of course concepts of Kronos and magma elemental constantly dripping and reforming.

So here his Mot on his K'daai Mount, the K'daai Hellheart

    Re: Scions of Hashut

And my last update for a while, my first ten assembeled, ready and based Ash Dogs, it's been quite some time since I've had a unit based and ready to paint, and been almsot 2 years since I've painted a miniature let alone a unit, well to be fair this is only a fraction of the unit as I'd like at least 30 ash dogs, divided into two groups of 15, or might add on and make two units of 20. Eitehr way they've come out, should add some nice contrast to the army as most will be metallics, blacks and fire effects, these units will be purely skin and bone (quite literally in their background too).

So here are my counts as Hobgoblins, blinded war slaves, Derg K'arr U’hmo Khemator, The Ash Dogs of the Cindering Pit.

and one with the Despotic Exiled Prophet, Mot Tohrno mounted on his K'daai Hellheart
