Could be, who knows- although odd to advertise it with a picture on White Dwarf spines that wont be finished when DA release (if this rumour were true).
Just to point out (as others have done as well) DA were released about a year and a quarter before 5th ed and a year and a half before the space marine codex- so were not exactly talking about being instantly outmoded here. The last 40k book out before 5th ed was Chaos Daemons.

Dark Angels came out March 2007, 5th edition 40K was July 2008 and the Space Marines codex October 2008.
I wouldn't worry too much though, at least about the next edition: 6th ed is being predicted for summer this year, so if DA do come out right before it's safe to say theirs will be a 6th ed codex in all respects.

I thought GW used overseas printers? Though my inside man did tell me an awful lot of things were being brought back in house, or at least back to the UK (new paints, for example, are UK produced).
It would make sense is DA are in the box set. Chaos are likely to get the big push early 6th so DA will likely be a small release. And only 1 new kit (for the elite ravenwing) unit would be about right.

1 Kit is honestly not worth putting out a new codex. they do more kits for a WD release. Even if DA are downplayed compared to Chaos, releasing 1 kit for a book is a waste of opportunity. Given other Marine releases, I'd say at least 3 kits plus some finecast models. For DA, I'd guess a Deathwing Terminator box, maybe a 3 pack Ravenwing Jetbikes (normal Ravenwing cover any normal bikes just fine) and either a 5 or 10 man PA Veterans kit (with existing DA Sprues used for normal marines or moved to direct only) or some sort of large vehicle. I'd almost ertainly expect at least a model for Belial, and maybe some characters from Sucessor chapters.
That is just speculation, but I can guarantee when DA get a book they will get more than one kit.

To add my own doubts: I think the rumour is genuine, but some things have been got wrong. A book "being at the printers" usually means that it is three to six months away. That would of course fit the "in the next couple of months" line, but I don't see DA as the next release. As others have pointed out, Chaos had its printer rumours a few months back, so I would put my money on them being next. If I had any money to bet that is.

As a DA Player i may have jumped out my chair in joy at this thought. I don't know if anyone else has really noticed but there is next to nothing in terms of rumors about the may release. This rumor makes me believe we are cvoming out soon maybe just after 6th drops in the summer.
oh and OP if you can ask him if the book is hardback or Soft. It will inflame the passion of DA players everywhere!
Anyway, that new speeder variant sure sounds like one kit to be released with the 'dex.
Since we are hearing so much conflicting about who is next I have no idea what to believe, but I love to read all the rumor tidbits I can get my eyes on =)
My biggest question mark is whether deathwing terminators will remain flexible in their equipment, being able to mix TH/SS, TLC and SB/PF. And if they will be able to be taken in larger uit sizes then 5 as it is right now or if that will remain the same along with fearless.
Tbh the current 'dex ain't that bad for a deathwing army since we get cheap TH/SS and cyclone launchers. It's just all the other stuff that is (heavily) overpriced, but we do get scoring speeders and attack bikes at least.

Well, GW makes those youtube teaser videos now announcing a new army codex. If there's indeed a codex coming in May, we should see a teaser appearing in the next few weeks.

I'm on the August-October Bandwagon personally. There have been a few too many hints that Chaos is first, (much though I want it the other way round) A land speeder varient and a Chaplain formation sounds like 2 kits to me.....

I think he just means that GW does everything as a dual kit these days. If they put out a new Landspeeder kit, it's likely to have parts to build a different type as well.

I would love a new codex as soon as possible, but I think Tau / Eldar need a new codex more than any marine chapter. But I will take what I can get though. If the speeder kit is a dual kit, it is probably a new variant / Master of the Ravenwing kit.
Like pretty much everyone else, I'm not sure I know what to believe at this point either. But do you guys really think they would go through all the trouble of hyping up Dark Angels by printing the photo on the WD spines & then turn around & release Chaos as the next codex?
Obviously DA are popping out with the 6th at some point during this year. Or maybe it just refers to the paint set
C:SM popped out right after the 5th, so maybe we'll have to wait until October for the DA. If that holds true, Chaos would get the May book. Not that I expect Chaos to be in the Starter Box, more likely Newcrons get that slot.

Well, if we are talking about creating hype and riding on waves I'd guess the book is about some ravenwing rather then anything else since they like to tie BL with codex releases. This could also support the idea that DA indeed are next and that the book will come about the same time as the 'dex. From marketing it does make more sense then having a book out and then release the codex half a year later when everyone has forgotten, or didn't even notive, the release opposed to having the book released soon after the 'dex when everyone is on the bandwagon and the new release will be noticed more.
