Belial is indeed Hebrew for "Lacking Worth." Asmodai was a demon of sexual perversion. Samael is cast as both good and evil depending on the story.

Azrael and Ezekiel are the two non-evil names. Azrael is literally "Whom God Helps" and is referred to as Malak Al-Maut in the Koran, which means Angel of Death. Ezekiel is a Jewish profit who was responsible for the Book of Ezekiel, a very important section of the St James Bible. He is also a canonized saint.
LOL there's a few tongue in cheek characters named after daemons and devils and hell related subjects, just most of them are in the DA book.

Mephiston apparently didn't set off any bells. (Mephistopheles)
Neither did Dante (named after Dante's Inferno, a journey through Hell)

I think Sapphon's and Bethor are ones also.

Azazel also is a jewish name, stemming from a goat which is sacrificed on the Day of Atonement.

Plasma Pred is forgeworld- I could totally see it being included in the Dark Angels codex, like the hydra and stuff for Imperial Guard.

So basically we've established the naming convenion for DA (again!).

As for BA names, there's a convention there too (albeit a different one). Maybe this should go to a new thread in general to keep this rumoured up?

Rumours or wishlisting? At this stage I don't think anybody really has any idea in fact people can't even agree on what codexes are coming out this year! Most likely chaos sometime after 6th but that's about it!

I'd rather see both units as Troops choices right off the bat, but if the recent Chaos Legions rumours are true than this seems all too likely to happen as well.
We've had a similar rumour about Chaos Lords/Special Characters and Cult units in the upcoming Chaos Legions book. Maybe we've got something here. A new way of handling FOC-changing characters in the codecies?

Not exactly new, that's how it works in Codex: Orks.
But if they revisit this concept, I hope they change the rules for scoring units. It would be a real pain to remember which 1 of my opponent's 4 terminator squads is a scoring unit.
Of all the threads in all the forums in all the world you had to post into this one.

I hoping that GW will drop the ridiculous scoring rules altogether. All infantry on foot should be able to claim objectives but have to physically +capture+ them first... such as in Endwar... or, I dunno, reality?

With all the elites that can count as troops, the whole concept of troops-only scoring and the balance it was intended to bring into the game has been rendered meaningless.

Anyway I don't know what to think about the Summer releases anymore. I think GW must be feeding us loads of rubbish when we get claims that DA, Chaos, Tau, and Orks (and no less than 3?!?) codices are coming out this year. That would be a nightmare for stockists and independent stores. Before we get our hopes up for both DA and Chaos etc we should consider the constraints of shelf space.

Well when I visited my store the other day we put all the white dwarfs together and it clearly makes a dark angel. Personally, I think this is simply going to be 6th ed, but it could hint at the dark angels coming sometime soon...

The store manager hinted that new 40k stuff was around the corner, including new fine cast of space marine characters. (Hinted on DA characters).

We have the finecast SM list for May on the Necron 2nd wave thread. There are no DA characters present. Absence of evidence or evidence of absence? You decide...

Kind of my thoughts as well. I guess we will have to wait and see. The manager did say, however, that rumors have been on lockdown from corporate over the past year. Never been so hard to hear so little.

What's interesting to note is that the Forge World Predator with the Plasma Executioner on it is a Deimos pattern. Could we be seeing GW/Forge World dropping a big hint (out in plain sight, best place to hide anything) that a standard model (same type as the rest of the current Predators in design) of Predator with an Executioner Plasma Cannon is actually in the pipeline? Something to think about.

Yup, it doesn't make much sense. Or indeed, any.

I'm wondering if the Deimos Plasma Predator itself was the source of the rumour and the wires got crossed with the Dark Angel info. Anyway I'm sure that if DAs get this as an official option it won't be the only piece of preheresy tech they have access to.

GW and Forgeworld rarely work hand in hand.

What you find is that FW units that cover gaps in codexes and have, therefore, sold pretty well, tend to be included in the new versions of a codex. Usually due to the codex writer having a love for them, or the design studio being inspired. With the recentness of the deimos pattern predator and (if there is a DA codex in the works) the fact the the DA codex should be written already, i doubt we'll see the plasma destructor in a new kit any time soon.

I think it's possible. It's also possible that there has been some crossing of wires...

Its also possible that GW and FW are starting to work together. For instance the recent rules update for the Taros campaign book which made those specific rules 40k official. I could be wrong though. Anyone know if that's really just normal SOP for FW?

They've had the 40k stamps for a couple of books. However, there's still a caveat that says you should ask opponents permission. So its the same old story with FW. Not for tournament play. yet.

No, they previously said you HAD to ask permission. Apoc 2nd ed. changed it to you SHOULD ask.

That means permission is no longer required for those units so marked.
