I still get about 50% of the tournaments I enter not allowing IA.
Right, but why stop there?
If I can refuse my opponent to use FW, why can't I refuse my opponent to use that Avatar or some such?
I mean, if I get to decide what forces (s)he can or cannot use, the source of those forces shouldn't matter.
From IA2: Space Marines and Forces of the Inquisition:
The only things you needed to ask permission for were flyers and super-heavies, particularly in games below 2000 points since not all armies are equipped to deal with those. (at such point values). In the past we have advised players to seek their opponent's permission, but this seems an unsatisfactory solutions. Of course you need an opponent's permission to play any game, unless you intend to force people to play you! Eldar players don't feel they need permissions to field their Avatar, although each Craftworld has just one, only awoken in direst need. Using this 'opponent's permission' system I believe that too often players object, feeling that their opponent is getting an unfair advantage, which is actually nonsense. -Warwick Kinrade.

Let's get back on topic please.
Apparently the announcement that was supposed to be made on the Bolter & Chainsword forum didn't materialize. Back to the Rock then. Next time we'll learn to trust in rumourmancy. Next time we will remember that hope is the beginning of unhappiness...![]()
I certainly hope that this rumor turns out to be true.
And that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it would make a Space Marine army the last 40K army before a new edition.
Ho ho ho!
I was lying. That is the reason.
You are indeed wise MajorWesJanson, I like a lot of your posts but I'm gonna have to agree with Druchii Monkey on this one. Your not wrong about the releases but I think it's safe to say that given the weight of fluff/battle reports/painting articles/written articles/codexes generated by GW and BL over my last 20 years playing 40k then the big four in my humble opinion would be the DA, BA, SW & Smurfs
Not sure about this, I tend to associate Maces with Horus and Lorgar (and by association wouldn't their legions be more likely to have them?) I would however like to see a Belial character model with all the options in the codex, I imagine the rules will dictate what we use, personally as he currently has a naf inv save I use the TH & SS option.
On-topic, given that there has been a lull in DA related articles in WD over the past twelve months but a recent increase in activity (spine of the covers, new paint box set, a couple of DA's included in the painting guides, a couple of short stories via BL and also a couple of new books on the horizon it does look as though the marketing wheel is gaining momentum but I can't see it happening next month. I may of course be wrong. I'd like to think the WD spines are a cool, intelligent idea and will complete on the same day the codex launches, although depending on picture content and size this is obviously difficult to guage, perhaps a Games Day release on 23rd September 2012?
DjtHeutii; If he is not pointing, how will people know that he is in charge?
Godzooky; I think all UM flyers should be covered by a new special rule called: Whooshing machines live longer with Calgar...
Rabid Bunny 666; Heh, I can picture Russ waking up in a Space Hulk with about forty drunken Genestealers, three suits of Thousand Sons armour and a very confused ork.
Some recent threads mentioned store events in June where players are invited to bring models that are green. This was interpreted to be in conjunction with the Flyer release, particularly as the Ork flyer is rumored to be part of it.
But there's also rumors of an SM flyer. And there's another army that features the color green.
So that's probably the source of the DA chatter; the flyer will likely be specifically earmarked / themed for DA as well as codex marines, just like the Stormraven was for BA / GK.
Draigo's Razor: When presented with multiple explanations for a new piece of 40K content, the most likely answer is the one intentionally designed to make you, personally, angry.

No it wasn't. It was a GW Australia in store event. There is no way GW would only promote an event in one counrmtry for a new release.
Sorry for misunderstanding. I was writing in reply to Starchild post. :]

Fair enough. You may also tell by my posts that I enjoy poking fun at Dark Angels and Eldar (armies and players) due to those two being the majority of my opponents when I started playing. I do poke fun at everyone though.
As for maces, didn't the DA kit come with one for Power Armored troops? IIRC, I used them to make plastic crozaeus for chaplains.

Looks like we won't get a codex until +++after+++ the image is complete i.e. next year.
Hasn't that been said over and over?
Just like Tau have been said to be in 2013 as well.
I just have to say this, the spine image is for the 25th Anniversary of 40k. It has nothing to do with the release of the Dark Angels codex. From all the forums that I have read over the last month and a half I would say the next codex will most likely be Chaos. I also think that being that we are a few months away from the 6th edition release, from a business standpoint, GW will most likely release the Chaos Codex after 6th is out. That way they can maximize there profits by selling them in the hard back format. That being said, the Dark Angels Codex will be coming out possibly in October. If not then, it will be early 2013.
You're totally right Oni, there should be no disctinction between official and unofficial rules, it's so puritanical! Want to play against my scratch built Grey Knight titan? It may be overloaded with psycannons, but it's only 125 points!
While I'm not necessarily helping, I don't think this thread is long for this world. This has been talked to death and it seems fairly obvious that DA are not coming in May/June. Looks like we'll have to keep waiting impatiently for something concrete on our beloved Sons of the Lion.
This one has run its course.
Thread closed.
