If you get a chance ask if the book is hard or softback. Thanks for the rumors.

Hmmm. Not too sure about this. Quite frankly, I vaguely recall hearing all of this before in one form or another. Possibly rumour reverb?

Still, thanks for passing it on.

I'm just happy to finally have a rumor indicating they're in their own book.

I did think about your point before doing so; but i figured a little info is better than none. I trust the guy, I am not saying others have to. I know i have no track record but you never know i might have heard right! :-)
    Welcome to Warseer!

I wouldn't be too worried if this doesn't pan out as you've been told. Like Harry says it's all about the timing and that's what is most often inaccurate with rumours.

When I toured the Memphis GW factory there were brand new unreleased Tomb King kits stacked high on the shelves next to the shipping docks. That was about 3 weeks prior to the release date. A May / June window would probably be just enough time to produce & stockpile new Dark Angels ready for delivery.

Lets not forget Chaos supposedly was at the printers as of 2-3 months ago so even if this is true we may still be looking at an Oct/Nov release.

There was no chance they were going to be merged with the main Codex: SM, no matter how easy or much sense it would have made. The worst that would have happened would be a WD dex for a couple of years like BA or now Sisters. Most units are shared, so with DA it was mainly a question of focus for the book and what new kits to add to the army.

    So big thanks!!!
Does anyone care to explain the meaning of "pig's airport?" Is that a brit thing?

Codex merges are one of those undead rumors that never die no matter how often they're killed. It inevitably seems that someone who doesn't like an army and wishes it would go away posits that it WILL go away, and either spreads the rumor or gets misquoted and so on and so forth. The only time codexes have merged have been the mini-dexes being folded into the main books, but that's more because they were doing away with mini-dexes rather than getting rid of whole armies. But I don't doubt that eventually people will be talking about Eldar and Dark Eldar being combined again, nothing ever changes when it comes to repetitious rumors.

If Chaos comes in may then my boys will finally getting the update they need, and if it's Dark Angels then I'll be starting that Deathwing army I've wanted, win win for me

I'm with The Dude, this may just be a bit of reverb. Interesting none-the-less, though. Seems Chaos and Dark Angels are both breathing down our necks. I wonder which will be better for making a Fallen list...

Great... another "have fun for a few months" Dark Angels codex release... this book, and 5th edition are the reasons I stopped playing 40k and picked up angry birds
A shake of this and a sprinkle of that, then BAM!!!! It's my PLOG! (contains dark elf, dwarf, lizards and more)

Seriously people take this "oh noes last codex before a new a edition" rubbish a bit too far, in my experience the Ork codex still plays just fine.....
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.

More like a year and a half. Funny how everyone says his favourite army was the last one to get updated last time.
Of all the threads in all the forums in all the world you had to post into this one.

The Ork codex was not immediately followed by the Space Ork codex in which they took most of the design of the Ork codex but made almost everything more points efficient and added about 4-5 kits.

Dark Angels players are bitter for a reason. On that note though I do agree that many openly complain too much.

Re: Dark angels May/June I hear.

On the veracity of this rumour - it fits well with the BoK rumour from a couple of months back saying DA are next. He also said that we'd heard about the chaplain/wolfguard type thing before... the RW stuff is completely new as far as I'm aware, however. Thanks for sharing

To all the people foreshadowing DA getting the raw end of the stick due to being released just before 6th ed, I'm cautiously optimistic that it won't be the same this time around, if only for the fact that recent divergent marine codex's have had far more variance and differentiation than previous editions, meaning that they won't need to steal from DA in order to not suck.

At the end of the day, previous DA releases were more about tinkering with existing units and force org (DW, RW, Mortis), rather than introducing entirely new units (Thunderwolves, sanguinary guard). If DA get new units this time I doubt we'll see the copied by future SM codex's.

Re: Dark angels May/June I hear.

My guess is it's DA in May, new Edition in Summer/late summer (featuring DA and Chaos-Cultists) followed by Chaos-Dex in autum.
Would be the same order as 5 years ago with 6th between the 2 codex releases.

And you really shouldn't worry which codex comes first. It will totally be with 6th in mind.

I just hope they don't invent a new crazy unit like ravenwing jetbikes, an interrogator-rhino-chassis-chamber, a DK-variant on a mega-bike or any other crazy stuff.
But since they'll need to sell a new kit everybody wants to have who knows what they will come up with.

Ok lets say DA are soon, just before 6th edition. Before means that hardback codex is somewhat debatable. However, lets say theyre getting hardback codex. WFB 8th edition harback army books front covers depicts single guy. Does that mean White Dwarf DA picture is the new DA codex front cover?
