What would you do (buy) if GW closed down, and stopped producing miniatures?
(Lets assume they close down a month from now, so you still have time to get in some shopping)

I'd get on with my life. GW is not the sum total of wargaming, and I'm boycotting GW products anyway.
I'd buy a couple of Stompas.... from Wayland games because the full GW price is just too much. I am also kinda boycotting GW, but if they're going out of business then theres no real point in doing so anymore. ^_^
Look at my pile of unused armies, hit up Ebay and cash in 3-4 months after it's all done. Kerching!

I would simply be devasted to be honest.
This is coming from a huge fan in Australia. I have stuck with GW for 10 years. They have given something in my life which I would find hard to replace. The beautiful models, the amazing fluff, the lore, the games. I find myself constantly thinking of the next army project, enjoying the new paints, and every release GW has done. Sure there have been hiccups along the way, but ultimatley, it says something when you can enjoy your hobby for 10+ years and many more years to come.
It's funny, around my circle of friends, family, and the Mrs...they all tell me that as long as it has a 'GW stamp' on it, I will find no fault with it. Which is true to a sense..in my eyes GW are an amazing company that has provided me with something special. So long live GW!

I'd be sad for a little while. And then continue buying minis from Kingdom Death, AoW, Privateer and other manufacturers i like.
Sell what I have, make money, spend money on Warmachine, Infinity, Firestorm Armada et al.
Those who know don't care any more, and those who care don't know.
Even if it were to happen, I think we would find another company would likely buy the IP, factory, ec. and rebuild the brand. It's not like it isn't a viable company, rather its the fact that the current economic management makes no sense. If we can see that, then I'm sure somebody with the cash to buy out the company could also see what would need to be done to turn the company around.
Young lady, I am an expert on humans. Now pick a mouth, open it and say "brglgrglgrrr"!
I too would look to buy up a lot on ebay.
Hope fantasy flight buys/gets complete control of the warhammer ips. I think they could do wonders with complete control of the ip.
But barring that, buy up the models I still want and paint the huge pile of unpainted stuff I already have.

Key to balance: Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you HAVE to
Finally starting Malifaux, I guess. And GW doesn't support support all armies in equal measures (DoW dead, Brets/WE/Dwarfs on the poor side), so that much wouldn't change rulewise (and there are nice fanbooks in the internet). Like EmperorNorton, I'd try to buy cheap stuff then, I do not expect GW's stuff going the "Ilyad Way" (= multiply in price after the company's end)
I don't think that'd be the case personally. For quite a few years FASA/Ral Partha branded Battletech stuff went for significantly inflated prices on eBay and that was a case where the IP was bought/transferred pretty much straight away and the exact same products were available from Wizkids/Ironwind Metals within months of FASA closing their doors.I don't think you'd be cashing in.
With the company and the continued support gone, demand would plummet.
Hence I'd expect I'd buy obscene amounts of stuff for very little money from people clearing out stock or selling their collections.
I'd expect something pretty similar to happen in all honesty. The IP would be bought by or transferred to another company (With or without the infrastructure) and it'd broadly carry on regardless.
Even if it didn't for whatever reason it wouldn't be a catastrophe, not for me at any rate but then it's been a long while since GW effectively pushed me away from their products. The hobbies of wargaming, miniature painting and model making have existed long before GW and will likely outlast it too. The only ones who would be really hit would be those diehard fans who can't or wont look beyond GW.
INFINITY.
Simple.
As much as I love the background and fluff GW has created for their games (and I sure love many of the models, too),
there are other miniature companies out there also making some very very nice models and interesting game systems.

Considering I play EPIC three times as much as i play WHFB, Id continue buying wonderfully produced proxy miniatures for a third of the price.
My EPIC and BFG Blog: EPIC ADDICTION
Well ...
I already have several armies, none of which are fully painted, so I still have plenty to be getting on with. I wouldn't have to worry about future editions. Going by previous examples, the people who don't quit because they're now "dead games" and "unsupported" will be the ones who are least likely to countenance house rules, so the remainging player base will probably be easier to get on with.
I suspect in the short term there's be a drop in prices as the people who worry about "official support" panic and dump their stuff, but after that, you can already see how older GW models and Rackham's miniatures go for a fortune on Ebay. Still, it won't be such a problem, since there won't be the churn of people thinking they need to keep up with what's "current".
Oh no, did it take the search function with it? You could have just read all the other similar threads....
I miss Chris Farley.
I would keep my current models, buy nothing and probably quit wargaming although I won't be adding anything new to my collection I will still likely continue painting my models. Too much time, effort and dedication has been spent on my warhammer I wouldn't be able to force it in me to start a new completely different wargame ie Warmachine/hordes.
Please check out my painting log and leave a comment! Lots of Pics Updated and Checked often!

Pray Mantic doesn't double their prices with the competition gone?
Perhaps I would finally be able to finish my armies.
Nah, I can't see GW going. At the very least someone would buy the IP because well established IPs reduce risk when a company does stuff.
Who knowns, maybe the guys who started it all will open a shop and start selling suspiciously similar products![]()
