3,000 points of the New Empire!

    Fantasy Army: BoC
Hey mates. After testing out a few things with the new book, I pretty much have 2x Lists that I feel very comfortable about, and also a 3rd one that I am tempted to try out to see what it can do. As it stands, an Ogre player is eager to get into grips with the new Empire, and we agreed for a 3,000 point game this coming up Friday at my game-store. I decided on my "Balanced/Counter-Attack" list, that was similar to my old one with the old book with a few tweaks, so tell me what you guys think.

*Martin von Wolf: (aka Kral Franz)
-w/Hammer of Solland (Ghal Maraz), Barded Warhorse

    *Lvl. 3:
-w/White Cloak, Celestial Hurricanium, Lore of Heavens

    *BSB:
-w/Biting-Blade, Full Plate Armor, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Endurance

    *Warrior Priest #1:
    w/GW, hvy. armor, shield

    *Warrior Priest #2:
    w/GW, hvy. armor, shield

    *Warrior Priest #3:
    w/GW, hvy. armor, Skavenhelm

    *Engineer:

    *Engineer:

    *Engineer:

    *(49x) Halberds: (w/Warrior Priest #1)
    -w/Full Command

    *(49x) Halberds: (w/Warrior Priest #2)
    -w/Full Command

    *(48x) Halberds/Spearmen: (w/Warrior Priest #3, BSB)
-w/Full Command, (Shields if I decide on Spearmen)

    *(11x) Reiksguard Knights: (w/Karl Franz, 6x2)
    -w/Full Command, Steel Standard

    *Hellblaster:

    *Hellblaster:

    *Hellblaster:

    TOTAL: 3,000 points

Overall, its a fairly balanced list, which I feel will do very well against Ogres and anyone else who crosses my path, only hiccup is should I take more Halberds or throw in a unit of Spearmen to mix things up a bit? Hellblasters against his units will be awesome as though they are tough, most have little to no armor so that should play well into my hands, as well as the fact that Karl Franz and his Stubborn LD10 Reiksguard Knights will be just devestating, while the Wizard and the Hurricanium do what they do best and bombard the enemy with magic. Besides this list, I could try to run a pure CC list w/Karl Franz on his Griffon, but I thought I would give this a try so tell me what you guys think.

Looks decent. 3 Warrior priests seems a bit unwieldy when you could take an Altar and bubble the hatred (and prayers). Are you avoilding that because of Ironblasters?

Reason for taking 3x Warrior Priests instead of an Arch Lector is partly because of that, but also this way means that if I lose a unit, I will still have 2x Warrior Priests to buff my units. Plus, it was either take a Lvl. 3 on the Heaven Celestial Hurricanium or the Arch-Lector, and I think some magic would be a good thing to have against Ogres.

Is there any reason the wizard is mounted on the Hurricanum? You have enough points left in rare to take them seperately, gain no advantage by mounting him that I can see, and make him an easier target than just sheltering him in a unit

The other thing that puzzles me is having 3 large units rather than 2 large units with detachments. Given that detachments benefit from hatred now I feel this would give more options, and would help the fact your army doesn't actually have many units.

Mmh. I'm sure I've just earned my place in History with that sentence.

Re: 3,000 points of the New Empire!

Reason for not taking detachments is just because in all honesty, I have had too many opponents charge them and ignore my parent unit, resulting in a number of headaches, and though they got the new rules that benefit them, it is still a lot of points sunk into a detachment and the points will add up. I'm just one of those Empire Players who isnt that big of a fan of detachments mate. And the Wizard Lord can chose the Hurricanium as a mount, which was something I was interested in at the time but I have changed my list since then after aquring my Griffon model, as well as some Thunder Wolf Cavalry, which I will convert into my Demi-Gryph riders to fit my Middenheim-themed list. This is what I had in mine so tell me what you guys think:

    *Martin von Wolf:
-w/Lance, Full Plate Armor, Charmed Shield, White Cloak, Gryphon w/Bloodroar

    *Lvl. 4:
-w/Talisman of Preservation, Pegasus, Lore of Heavens/Shadow

    *BSB:
-w/hw, Full Plate Armor, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Endurance

    *Warrior Priest #1:
    w/GW, hvy. armor

    *Warrior Priest #2:
    w/GW, hvy. armor

    *Warrior Priest #3:
    w/GW, hvy. armor

    *Engineer:

    *Engineer:

    *(49x) Halberds: (w/Warrior Priest #1)
    -w/Full Command

    *(49x) Halberds: (w/Warrior Priest #2)
    -w/Full Command

    *(48x) Halberds/Spearmen: (w/Warrior Priest #3, BSB)
-w/Full Command, (Shields if I decide on Spearmen)

    *(4x) Demi-Wolves:
    -w/Full Command, Lances, Shields

    *(4x) Demi-Wolves:
    -w/Full Command, Lances, Shields

    *Hellblaster:

    *Hellblaster:

    *Celestial Hurricanium:

    TOTAL: 3,000 points

Not only does list gives me some more mobility, but it gives me some much more hitting power and a lot of stuff that could ruin his day, and this list is one I tried to make fairly balanced, as besides Ogres, I guarentee that I will be playing against HE, Chaos Warriors, and possibly Skaven.

Yeah i much prefer the second list, have you considered adding a mounted WP to the demiwolves? as far as i can tell it is possible but ive not noticed anyone doing it or even considering it.

Cant take a Warrior Priest or any characters at all on a Demi-Gryphon mate, which is a shame but they did it for a reason.

Second list is better than the first one.

Who says that you can not take a character in a demigriph unit? Give him a barded horse and he can join them, he only did not get a LoS roll. Even in the rules for the Grand Master it is noticed that demigriphs get his immune against psych if he joins them.

What I miss in your list are one or two cannons. If the Ogres have one or two cannons they can stand 24,5" away from you and shoout your General, your Celestial Hurricanum, your Hellblaster or your mage on a pegasus in the first round.

First of all I would take the mage on foot and take a cannon instead of one hellcannon. Every unit which can deal out multiple wounds are good!
