Hello
I think like many I have one or two (or a bakers dozen) of unfinished army projects floating around my project desk and it is about time I did something about this. One of these unfinished projects was an Empire army of Averland, an army that has grown close to my heart. Luckily the Empire has a new book and what better excuse could I find to return to them once again. My plan is with the release of the new book to paint towards a 3000pt force over the course of the year. I already know the scheme I am after as I have a fully painted unit of Swordsmen and Marius Leitdorf from my first attempt at the army. The central idea for the army is one comprised of State troops and men on foot. I like the idea of glorious battle line of men standing their ground against the horrors of the old world and maybe just holding out. I thought first up I would post the fully painted units to show the style of painting I lean towards and the standard I am hoping to achieve across the rest of the army.
First up is the General of the army : The Elector Count of Averland Marius Leitdorf

As you can see I need to do a little repair work on the sword, thinking of completely redoing it and going for a more pronounced glowing effect on it.
This is a fully painted unit of 30 Swordsmen that is typical of how I paint my units
Next up is a unit of 15 Halberdiers I have started. The intention is for them to be a detachment for a unit of Greatswords
The aforementioned Greatswords with a Warrior Priest in the front rank
This is just an idea of what I have at the moment. Still working on how I would like to fill out the rest of the army and when I do I will post the list and ideas I have about each unit
Cheers for now
Lucian
