    Necrons 1750 pts

    40K Army: Necrons
Hi, I just made this Necron list and wanted to know if it was viable of not Just read the Necron codex and I wanted to have an idea of a semi-competitive list before buying anything, so comments would be appreciated. The idea is to field one lord (for Rez orb and some CC punch) and one Harbinger of transformigation (delay advance of enemy cc) with each warrior blob. The first overlord goes with immortals and the second goes with one blob to give them relentless. The 2 harbinger of destruction go with immortals and blast the tank targets of the stalkers. I mainly see this list struggling with AV14 but i figure LRs will eventually get close from the stalkers and monolith/LR battle tank will most likely give me cover saves and reanimation protocol.

    HQ
    Necron Overlord 165
Warscythe + Phaeron + Rez Orb + Sempiternal Weave

    Royal Court 175
    - Necron Lord + Warscythe + Res Orb + Mind

    Heavy Support
    Annahilation Barge 90

    Re: Necrons 1750 pts

So i recently aswell picked up the Necron book, I used to play Necron waaaay back when 4th just came out. So far I have had about 10 games with them and made some mistakes and some great choices. One mistake was Destroyers, I used to love them but they get targeted and picked on way to early, followed by they are very expensive, and the squad cant get too big. I tried them as anti tank, that worked out well for one turn until again they were taken out ...to small of a squad being my major downside yet again. So I thought the Stalker would make a good anti tank, And well they do. So good choice there.

Ok your Necron overlord cost you 165 and has rez orb and a weave or for 20 pts more, you take Nemsor Zahndrekh and get all of that (minus the war scythe) and get the tactics rules and phased reinforcements. Also your trying to use the HQ's as your CC...well they just aint that, your low Initiative means you take all the hits the enemy can deliver before you deliver your 3 A...best to use your Hq's for supplemental benefits to your entire army then CC second. Also the Harbingers of Transmogrification is not a great choice, the tremor staff is costing you 5 pts and your getting very little. if you had the Harbinger of the storm you would have a voltac staff and have anti tank shots.

Your Troop choices are all foot slogging when your clearly avoiding one of the best things the necron have to offer. The Ghost ark with Warriors in them, Lotsa 12" gauss shots there, remember open topped armour 13 with ten dudes inside drive bying is awesome! Last The immortals, they are foot sloggin with rapid fire weapons, best give them the Tesla weapons.. 24" assault 1 Tesla its golden Its absolutely awesome! Grey knights have a market on 24" assault weapons on all their guys, take advantage of being able to do the same! Also it may take some work around but you can pile the Immortals into the Ghost ark after deployment to give them a gun boat they can shoot around in.

Last thing to leave you with. If you really want CC you gotta look at actual CC units, Flayed ones, Lychguard, Wraiths, They have what it takes, They are expensive but they do the job. I like 10 Lychguards in a nightscyth with hyperphase swords and dispersion shields along with a necron lord or two with a res orb and maybe a cryptek with a lightning field.

Well thats what ive found works playing against my LGS out of about 10 games. Maybe it works for you ... maybe it wont

Some good advice Jack, but don't forget Immoratal can't be transported in a Ghost Ark (only Characters, Royal Courts and Warriors).

On the original list. Personally I don't rate stalkers, especially in a mostly foot based list. I'd got for some 5 warrior units with 2 destruction teks for fire support instead.

i used a similar list when i was first testing
it was alot of fun and somewhat competitive. i had a couple of ghost arks to provide some mobile cover or to move in the way of would be assaulters and of course restore some warriors each turn
hope that tiny bit of advice helped

For me, I would barge up the overlords . They are amazing when they do. The immortals don't have the nymbers for a res orb. Large warrior blocks are invincible to most shooting if in cover and res orbed. I hate annihilation barges and not even playing against them, just as a necron player.

So, the problem the list has now is that there are 2 threats in the form of stalkers. They don't have the range or speed to capitalize on your two rounds of night fight. As bad as it sounds, drop the two stalkers and annihilation barges and some knick knacks from your overlords. Command barge them with war scythe and buy....doomsday arks. They are a threat that has to be shot at and have almost 2 full rounds to do that without much risk. Your 2 res orb lords go to each warrior squad, your transmog teks go to each warrior squad, and your destro teks go to the immortals. The 4 av 13 vehicles go from mildly threatening to must deal withs. I say this because I run 2 decked barge overlords,2 8man warrior squads with 2 destro teks with a pulse/gaze o death and 2 doomsday arks at 1500 pts and haven't lost yet.

Agreed with everything there except for the dropping of annhi barges for doom arks. Doom arks just simply aren't worth it especially if the opponent knows how to use terrain to their advantage and screw you over with having to move them. Annhilation barges are a steal for what they do AV13 and good suppression/anti infantry shots for only 90 pts? For better anti tank load up on scarabs or heavy destroyers. Also I find night scythes with an "immortal upgrade" running beside them with tesla and lance teks a great troop choice.

    Re: Necrons 1750 pts

    Great advice spring heeled jack
Ann.barges become extra deadly with tank hunter form Memesor I run with Tesla (10) immortals and a vod-tech.
Not sure about the stalkers either. Most armies i played against i need either a counter assualt/baby sitting unit or just tarpiting Against deep striking/ reserves outflanking etc. Here I found 4+ wraiths or 2+ spiders are great. I have used counter-strike, furoius charge, and take away stuff as well with ZM.

    I'm addicted to ZMemesor
