White Lions as Demigryphs

So I have a lose white lion theme running through my empire army (lots of 6th ed round sheilds with lions faces on), and when talk of the demigryphs and how horrendous the models were definately going to be I thought of using white lions from the high elf chariot box mounted with knights instead.

Now personally im pleasantly surprised with the demigryphs and so am giving them serious thought instead of my initial idea. What im wondering however and would like advice on from anyone with either the demigryphs or white lions (preferably both) is sizing;

Do you think the white lions will look too small on a 50x75 base?
Is there much noticable size difference between the white lions and demigryphs (i dont mind if they look shorter but sleeker for example so long as they dont look strangely small)?

Im hoping this would be a well thoughout and consitanly themed conversion and not just a cheap imitation therefore any help is much apreciated,

The thing I always ask when folks mention converting Demigryphs is what are you going to use as riders? The Demigryph riders are 10x nicer than the plastic Knight kit and there aren't a lot of Empire model options to choose from.

Regarding size of the White Lions, I think they'll be reasonably large for this purpose. They are a bit shorter and stockier than Demigryphs but shouldn't have too much trouble looking the part.

Personally i never found the actual Knight models that bad (were as the horses are quite dated as everyone agrees), and looking at them i dont see the gryphon knight riders looking THAT much better, yes they are a little more varied and individual but very similar imo.

Personally I find the Demi-gryphs look pretty weird on the size of bases they are on anyways. The bases seem unnecesarily large for a relatively small model.

I don't see a huge problem re the overall body size, but are their torsoes the right size and shape to fit whatever saddles and riders you'll be using?
