Re: Adepticon 2012 Army - Munchy Gutsmen and the Holy Gristle

That is just awesome! I've seen some Monty Python's Holy Grail-themed Warhammer armies before, but none so well done as this. These guys really look great, and I like that while paying tribute to the movie you've still maintained the character of the Ogre Kingdoms army. Very nicely done, sir! Only thing I can say I'm sad to see missing are the three-headed knight and the knights who say "ni!", but both may have been pretty hard to pull off in an ogre army. Love the human squires!
The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

I don't like Monty Python, but I had to keep forcing my jaw closed while looking through these pics. Dear Warseer - this thread deserves more than 5 Stars.

What an incredible force and base. Just amazing.

Great piece of work! I can't wait to see it in person! Look for the guy running the lion beastmen and expect a fair amount of questions ;-)

Hey, i rarely force myself to post, especially on other peoples armies, but this is one of the best "classically movie/book themed army" I have seen in a long time! Keep it up, looks gorgeous!

Well, I commented on this army yesterday, and then my friend got to play you at Adepticon! He said it is even better in person, and looks great! I don;t know if you won anything, but I sure hope you did! (I think round three - lizardmen army)

Excellent - who would have thought that there would be a second Monty Python and the Holy Grail army, and that both would be fantastic and capture the spirit and humour of the film so well
Trying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.

Insane. It's hard to pick a fave but the guy with the coconuts immediately stuck out for me. That said, I probably missed about half of it staring at the pictures, which is what converting is all about if you ask me, having small treasures that you'll miss on the first look.

    Excellent work. Very inspirational.

I don't quite get a lot of the jokes, but the minis are ridiculously good.

Great to meet you at the tourney, sir! I can't wait to see what you pull together next year....

And for everyone else - seeing this in person was radical.

Hehe yes he was a lot of fun! He kicked my butt as well :O

    Woohoo!

Had a lot of fun at Adepticon this year. I think it was the best one yet. I went down on Tuesday with my buddy Dustin as he was a volunteer at the convention. Normally I go Friday night and then have to leave right after playing, so it was great to sit around and chat with everyone for a couple days before it got crazy. Met a lot of great people and a few customers I had not met before. Also got to see some old friends and customers in person again and that was fun.

I lost all my games on Saturday, but at least they were funny losses. Everything went wrong in big ways - I miscast almost every turn it seemed, and I couldnt pass a rerollable leadership to save my life, so at least they were something to laugh about! All of my opponents were great as well.

It was also the most touching awards ceremony of the four years as well. The announcer called me up for the first players choice, shook my hand and everyone cheered, and then on the way back he spoke like someone else had won the other (which I expected) but called my name again! I felt very honored to win both and for the army to receive the response it did.

Sunday was a blast at the team tournament. We played very solid all day, winning all but the second game. For me the Fantasy Team Tourney was a bit more fun than the 40k version, but it might just be because it is shorter and not as exhausting

The army has now galloped off into the sunset, off to it's final resting place next to the pirates.

    - Until next year!

If this army hadn't won that, then there truly would be no justice in the world!
