The sculpts are excellent! I love seeing them in better lighting, they really are amazing models. Admittedly though, my heart still yearns for the tubby little magma beasts we saw in Tamurkhan. I just see them trudging along with my chaos dwarfs more than these towering flame Knights.

I will get used to them. Just hope the Destroyer is still a HUGE bull of some sort.

Can't tell if I like these or not. Every time I look at them, the whole thing blurs together and I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

Excellent sculpts, and they look better in-person. But not how I picture Fireborn, which is less fire and more armour. Still, they're damn nice models and worth the money.

Edit: Also, I forget who posted it, but ever since they said they look like the Knights Who Say Ni, I'm unable to to unsee that.

Technically these are very well sculpted, but I think they would have looked much better if the flame part was maybe a third smaller and the body was a third bulkier. Plus some mechanical looking parts thrown in for good measure.
have to agree with this, they don't seam to fit with the rest of the range, but there is so much detail i would need to see them in person of painted to really tell if I like them . Very high quality creative work though, even though it might no suit my tastes.

Which is quite good, indeed. Dont have any list for chaos dwarvs, and i dont know how good these tings might be statwise, but i do like their look a lot. I might use one as a base for my iron warrior demon prince, as i think the size is just about right, and it would look much better than the bodybuildng winged beastman we get now. Dont know what to do with the remaning 2, however...

Because in "our" opinions it isn't. You may see differently, but again, thats your opinion.

Blah blah blah subjectivity, yes, of course. I just pointed that although I don't personally like them all that much, the sculpting of the k'daiis' fire, the metal and the runework are more technically impressive (and rarely seen) effects than a lot of the texture work on, say, the skinwolves.

Well, first I may have replied a little abruptly, so appologies if it came across that way. Secondly, I did say in my post that they weren't terrible, but IMO relatively, they are lacking in the quality dept. The armour is fine and top notch, but the lava/flame sculpting seems a bit "off the peg".

They really shouldn't post pictures without painted ones as well. I know that's risky as a paint job can ruin a model but it would be nice to see both. I think these could be brilliant but for some reason the basic resin doesn't wow me.

Don't worry, I mean you're right. Ultimately it is down to opinion. It just grates a bit to see folks dismiss stuff without backing it up as regards why.
See, I'd disagree on the fire point as to me it looks better sculpted than a lot of GW's fire, such as the Empire Bright Wizards, some of the Tzeentch models and 40k Vulkan He'stan (Skaven fire gets a pass as it's warpfire and has a pleasingly kinked look to it). But we're both doing more than just going 'it's a ****', which is what forums are for.

Whoever made painting comparisons in the last thread to the Avatar was right, the whole burning core look, but there's tons of flames too, which are painted badly so often, even by the Eavy Metal team. Looking forward to seeing some done up, I think they have potential.

I don't care for them. Maybe that would change if I saw some painted, that could possibly change the whole dynamic of the look (seeing as how the flames in their current plastic form almost look like a big miscast to me). Oh well, Warhammer Forge has been stellar, but nothing can be on the mark 100% of the time. Again, maybe if they put up some painted pictures that would up there likability.

    What cattle have backwards legs?????

Interesting take - personally I think I'd have prefered them more squat and powerfull looking but they are nice for what they are.... Very similar to a D&D monster too, so useful for that...

None. Many people seem to mistake the heel for the knee on quadrupedal animals.

I love the concept and the background but something about the models just doesn't work. Maybe seeing them painted would make a difference.

Maybe scaling down the flames at the base to make them shorter might work, a clean chop and then spreading around the excess flames on the base is what I plan to do.

Personally really like these models, makes me want to see what they are going to do with the kdaii destroyer when they decide to get arround too it.
