2k pts of greyknight whooparse, final round of flgs league

    40K Army: Space Marines
So to kick this last game off, I'm sharing what I'll be running in the final round of our escalation league.

I played two games like a dummy during the league so I'm not in the clear for first, I'm ahead by two so if I tie or win, I win the league either way though I'm clearly 2nd it seems.

    Without any more delay
    -------------

    Coteaz

    Grandmaster
    -Psychotroke, Rad grenade, Brain mine

    Techmarine
    -Psychotroke, Rad

    Vindicare Assassin

    Culexus Assassin

Strike Squad (10) (grandmaster will run with these)
    -Psybolt ammo, psycannon (2)

Henchman Squad (coteaz will baby sit with them on a flank side)
    8 psykers, 2 jokaero, 2 servitors

Henchman Squad (techmarine will run with these)
    8 Death Cult Assassins
    -Chimera

    Dreadknight (2)
-Personal Teleporter, Heavy Incinerator, Gatling Psilencer

    Dreadnought
-Assault cannon, Twin Linked Autocannon, Psybolt ammo

The idea with this is my usual Coteaz denies soo much from coming in one side, and forcing the fight to that side (this really hurts deep striking armies and outflankers) I'm going to try some death cult assassins out this time, with the techmarine running with em. (to be honest I can't think of any Idependent character that for the points does as much for assault as he does with psychotroke and rad grenades and the ability to cast hammer hands. (he has a flamer, las pistol, two extra attacks to boot!) getting DCA to hit one harder against one toughness less seems pretty pimping. Not to mention the aegis of the techmarine will then extend to the DCA...

Dreadnought will be hanging around mainly to just provide that -4 to psychic tests against aegis wielders, and if no psychic tests, it's pretty great damage.

The culexus will of course hang out with coteaz and the psykers to get that sweet 10+shot str 5 ap 2 going on, and the vindicare will hide in something reinforced I hope (although we often dont' have ruins in our deploy it seems...

At any rate, the DCA will be a new thing on me, the grandmaster will let my Dreadknights be scoring if I need them to be

Calexus isnt an independant character if I remember correctly so it cant hide with the corteaze squad.

a chimera can only hold 12 anyhow and coteaz makes 13. =P They are going to be on foot just sitting on a flank.

so is his purpose just to sit there in case something comes by? thats a lot of points dedicated to flank denile. They won't be moving up because then they would not be doing their job, but if they do their job, then they will just sit there and do nothing the whole game. I would take a callidus assassin instead and drop a jokaero so that corteaze can ride in the chimera with the other guys. This way you still have reserve denial, just with some mobility as well so it doesnt HAVE to do that. callidus can kill things like long fangs or lootas or whatever.

The chimera will be with the techmarine and the assassins.

callidus in my opinion just is lackluster because of it's inability to melee after poping out of a squad. It's just not the model it once was and is too easy to kill with it hanging out in the open like that. Your other option with callidus is to run them out on foot or to pop them out of your own squad, either one aren't very great.

You also got to remember the warpquake causes mishaps on the deepstrike (place them infront of coteaz if they don't go into reserves or destroyed) and anything that comes in over there gets free shots at it right off. Lastly there's enough bodies to let the jokaero pew pew the big targets with their finger lascannons.

But yeah coteaz just babysits a flank for the most part with those guys while keeping up decent anti tank shots from a distance. It's pretty effective, the psychic barrage is just plain nice.
