what demo's well with the Legion starter pack?

so, I'm starting to get some people interested in Warhamhordes in my area.

Currently I just have the Legion of everblight warpack, I'm humoring picking up Blindwater as my second Hordes faction, but I'm not sure if they're a good faction to demo with, any opinions? I know roughly about their "official" starter pack of Barnabas, a Wrastler, and an Ironback Spitter.

Id look at warmachine to be honest. I'd say the choice of big robots or big beasts would be one everyone could make. Whereas 2 hordes lists might not be to some peoples tastes.
Heres a bloody sig for you!

meh, by rights you shouldnt demo a WM faction against a Hordes faction. stick to 2 WM factions, or 2 Hordes factions IMO, regarding warmachine factions, they're all pretty balanced starter packs, though id be a bit more wary of using cryx (too many funny rules). regarding hordes, i'd go with Skorne and either Circle or Legion

Why? The games were designed to be played with one another.

Because explaining the differences between Fury and Focus is one more complication you don't need during a demo when you're trying to show someone the game.

well, more people seem a little more interested in hordes since they want to try fantasy game without the high startup of say, warhammer fantasy.

As for warmachine, I already have the Protecterate and a Highborn force(ashlynn, mule, talon, and vanguard).

I'm Kind of torn between troll bloods and Skorne since I want to have a bruiser faction in contrast to the more fagile Legion of everblight.

Either Trolls or Skorne would be good. The Axer would actually get a good opportunity to use Thresher on the Shredders, and the Skorne pack has both light and heavy beasts.

Indeed. One must not forget the Treeman Hammerhead with his Linear Branchcannon.

now, the tricky part is to resist the urge to collect either of them as a second faction.

I gotta agree, I had my first demo games with my Khador against the Circle Battlebox - despite my opponents patience I had a very hard time keeping track of what the hell he was doing.

This is the correct answer. Trying to explain why your character model generates his own power and allocates it to machines while your opponent has to leach power from his monsters can quickly get confusing. I'd argue it's best to go with 2 Hordes and 2 Warmachine boxes, but I'd stick to one type for demos.

As for a pair to Legion, I'd say Skorne. Circle would be a second choice - I just happen to prefer the utility of Savages to the Argus duo.

Skorne. It's probably the best demo force available. If you want to learn to play the game well the skorne warpack is the best of the warpacks to start with. The Gladiator without abuse will not generally kill the Carnivean (or any of the other starter heavies) but with abuse it will so you learn the importance of buffs. Nothing has pathfinder but you have the ability to give it out which is a great way of learning how important it can be. Morghoul has fury management but for that to work he needs to activate after other models have gone but abuse and the two great animus that he has need to be cast before beasts activate so you learn the important of activation order. Your main combat piece has a very short threat but different ways to boost it so you learn about threat ranges. He has an aggressive spell (what new players always look to) but it quickly becomes obvious that the damage output is not worth it compared to his buffs and you learn to use it is specific situations (when you have an opportunity for caster kill).

None of the other warpacks teach you quite as much of the important game aspects.

I don't know who you are or what you do, but you seem to be a great salesman. :-)

I've heard several WM/H veterans say that - that Skorne is the best army to learn the game(s) with.

I also recommend Skorne. Skorne works with anything - if at all possible, I run them as one of the Warpacks in my Hordes demos.
