I love it when someone accuses someone else of cheating without checking their facts.
Q: If a template hits a Screaming Bell or Plague Furnace being
ridden by a character, how is this resolved? (p42 & p48)
A: It is resolved as per the template rules in the Shooting at
Ridden Monsters section on page 105 in the Warhammer
rulebook.
The FAQ caught up with the skaven. The screaming bell works just like any other ridden monster/chariot. It was ridiculous to suggest that it didn't work that way in the first place. Everyone knew it was a silly loophole and it is good that it's closed. (Although I've seen a lot less screaming bells!)
What's silly is that even the 8th ed books have the same sort of clause for randomising shooting (e.g. Hunter on Stonehorn), but it's pretty clear the intent is that you follow the rules as per the rulebook for templates.
... and then I won.

You didn't forget to 'ring' the bell, did you?
Sometimes a post is so rotten I have to respond like dr.Cox -- My Dwarven painting log -- My Lizardmen painting log -- My Scurrying Skaven painting log -- My nurgle beastmen painting log --My Tau cadre painting log -- My knights of the white wolf -- My Ork painting log

Yhetees... seriously. I've had some people comment on how cheesy they are with Swiftstride, Magical Attacks, S5, and the Frost Aura dropping their WS. My comment, "Okay... next time I'll bring equal points worth of Mournfangs or Leadbelchers.

Well oddly enough ive havent heard any complaints about my army except for the questions where my steam tanks was![]()
On the other hand ive heard our local cheesmongers call an all skink army cheese.... How does that work![]()
LOL actually the all skink army does have a cheese all it's own. I've never faced it but apparently it can be rather annoying to face as all these skinks run around your units blow piping your army away.
... and then I won.
Try several years. Nothing afterwards in 6th edition did much to stop their ability to just walk into enemy unit turn one and roll them over; 7th edition didn't fair any better for awhile. Dwarfs came the closest with their extra magic defense but that was it. It was the start of the power creep that killed them (no pun intended) and that didn't start until 2007; Tomb Kings came out in 2001.
I thought wood elves were where it was at in 6th?
... and then I won.
For about a week...
I must have missed those years of TK tournament domination.... They had a nasty learning curve, if you had never really played against them and/or were unprepared, you could get smoked. The problem with Tomb Kings has always been that while you could stack thier magic phase to almost gaurantee a charge, you had to arrange for that one charge to win you the battle , with awful WS no Armour and high costs , that was the really trick part and even merely average rolls sank you for all the skill and effort you put into it. Usually the opponant saw it coming from a mile away and you faced a barrage of dispel scrolls and dice anyway. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but basically the magic phase just offset too many drawbacks to the army IMO for them to be considered broken at any point.
lol, 10 points... but would still take it at 15, or even 25(dont go getting any ideas GW)
The best part about brets is I get to pick the matchups most of the time, having the faster army. So my grail knights get the ethereals, KotR with flaming get the regening stuff, and baner of chalons get the ranged units.

The only thing people have ever got even vaguely annoyed about are the Proletariat Leadership Committee having a ward save, and possibly my two Trebuchets. Well, I'm sorry that my army consisting mostly of WS22, S3, T3, As 6+, Ld 5 peasants dares to pack some decent heavy weaponry. Obviously it's only sporting to fight your counter-revolutionary Chaos Warriors/Dark Elves/Demons/Ogres/Treekin in a bare knuckled fist fight, as per Queensbury rules. This reactionary thinking will get us nowhere, Comrades!

Of course, if you want to 'cheese on' you spam paladins so your opponent can realistically only get about 6CR if he kills each of those T4 2+/blessing models, seeing as the front of the lances are full of them. Generally, it will be less.
On sunday my WoC opponant called cheese on my unit of thirty dryads that ran across the field staying in a forrest(treesinging) and buffed with flesh to stone, took out all his warriors and still had all their models thanks to regrowth.
