Noob WoC Player - My first army list (2k points)

Fantasy Army: WoC

As the title says, I'm a noob and this is my first list. I haven't played any 8th edition fantasy yet so If you could help me I'd be REALLY REALLY grateful. I'd quite like to know whether this is a good list or not and whether I should change it round, so yeah some advice would be brilliant.

Looks like a pretty standard chaos list, should do fine. Normal internet wisdom would probably say take a level 4 instead of the level 2 and ditch the lord as too expensive for what he does which would allow you to add a warshrine to buff your troops or hellcannon for some ranged threat. They'd likely also advise a chosenstar with favour of the gods and a warshrine but it just depends how super competitive you want to be, I think your list will work fine and dislike seeing the same old build over and over again.

I was thinking of (eventually) expanding this to 3k and adding Chosenstar, Warshrine, Hellcannon and changing the wizards and characters round. The Chaos Lord is mainly for fluff as I like the model (Khorne Lord) and like the idea of his 6 Str 6 KB attacks. If I turned this into a tourney list i probably would add a lvl 4 and drop the chaos lord, but im not planning on being ultra competitive

That's cool, he is a very nice model as is the Juggernaut mounted lord. The 3k list sounds like a very solid expansion and will give you options for smaller games. now on to tweaks then, I would definitely find space for 2-3 units of 5 or so warhounds. I find these invaluable for maneuvering to get us the fights we want and screen us from bad match-ups and shooting.

I did think about Warhounds but I felt the Chaos Warriors/Knights had enough protection, and There are a lot of Marauders anyway so lots of casualties won't really affect them

My only real comment would be to ditch the Banner of Eternal Flame. Flaming attacks are massively situational and you wont find yourself in a lot of situations where they actually do anything. Unless of course your meta has a lot of regen saves going around, in which case, keep it.

It's only a few points, but you might be able to find something else to do with them.

Its fairly cheap, and it should come in handy. To be fair, its not as if its a 40pt banner or anything so its not a point sink and it can be useful on HPAs/Hydras with all those S5 Flaming attacks
