    1500...why are you assaulting with Eldar?

    40K Army: Eldar
    All right I got a stupid idea for a stupid aggressive Eldar list that sounds like fun to me.

    This is not meant to win at all, just to do something categorically not Eldar for kicks and giggles

    Now the strategy, both yriel and the council are in one wave serpent. If Eldar gets first turn deploy the three serpents together and the falcons on the wings or together as far away from the serpents as possible.

    You immediately move flat out towards the closest/largest concentration of enemy units and move with star engines which gives you 36" of movements which should hopefully be enough to get your units within shooting/assault range next turn.

    Falcons hang back and try to pop or disable something with pulse lasers.

    If Eldar go second, reserve everything and hope your +3 roll on turn 2 thanks to yriel can get everything in. Come in ablazing at 36"

    Once its your turn again with whatevers left, shoot with your foot squads and get stuck into close combat with anything possible, DA too! If the serpents are still alive they need to be moving at cruising speed all the time now and annoying things with the TL BL. Ditto to the falcons.

    Alternatively the exarchs could take the PW+ss combo instead so the avengers will at least have +5 invuln and a pw for maximum annoyance.

    Any thoughts or improvements to this insanity?

    Not enough points left to give the serpents all spirit stones or the avengers rides, guess they'll just have to walk! Could drop a scorpion or two to give the serpents spirit stones.

    Pretty much the same plan except prince yriel and jain zar are in there own seperate scorpion units.

    The second list is even more insane, since Jain Zar will have to be on foot.

    Why would she have to walk when I have two spots open in every wave serpent?

    Because you are using squads of Striking Scorpions. If you look in your codex Phoenix Lords may only lead squads of their Aspect, meaning she can only lead Howling Banshees.

    Eldar can't do an assault army. Striking Scorpions, Warlocks and Banshees aren't that great. They also have expensive transports that are neither open topped or have an assault ramp.

    Well there is always the flying sear council of.doom though it's more than half your army normally.

    Jetbike Seer Council isn't very good either. Huge points sink, and they'd up having problems with plain Assault Marines in a BA list amongst others

    Gah... I just saw that, I don't play with Phoenix lords often, that was my bad, I guess for this to work I'd have to switch out Jain Zar for Karandras. I should have checked the profile a bit closer.

    They *can* do an assault army, its just really really bad compared to all of the other armies. I love scorpions and warlocks but will not touch banshees, S3 power weapon is not a MEQ killing cc squad in my mind, they share the same problem with fire dragons, you usually get one chance to use them. The transports are really expensive which makes this difficult combined with a lack of "amazing" assault units.

    I don't have the money or time to make a jetbike seer council as cool as it would be, and having two councils would be the army in its entirety. So I'm just using what I got.

    S3 on Banshees is a let down, but the number of power weapon attacks from a maxed out squad including an Exarch with Executioner will still often cause a lot of death. I find that they work better against Terminators and things like Obliterators because they are usually in smaller squads so you don't need to cause as many wounds. You will still usually go first after the first round of combat against them and their 2+ save means just as much as a 3+ save while they have the same toughness as standard Marines.

    Scorpions are better against the Power Armour squads with more models in them. They also have less need for transports since they can Outflank, but Banshees definitely need to be in a Serpent. Seer Councils can do a lot of damage with Enhance, Embolden, a few Destructors and Fortuned from the Farseer, but they are very expensive for the number of single wound models versus the limited amount of attacks they can dish out.

    The Avatar and Wraithlords are also helpful for punching through tanks and other heavy units, and can draw fire away from infantry and vehicles. Harlequins with lots of kisses will also cause many deaths, but like Banshees are only at their most effective on the charge for one round of combat. Other than the obvious CC specialist characters like Jain Zar, Karandras and Prince Yriel, I'd also recommend Fuegen. He can eat through heavy infantry thanks to his S5 MC close combat hits...
