Re: Ork Battle Fortress/ Killakopta Carrier

    hi all,
    many thanks
when I read this I get so red ears

I was a little distracted because of this

but now i can work on the " real " important things ^^
took me two days, my wife was with a girlfriend in berlin for a short vacation and i got the advice
to paint the hallway . ....

    --> twistedmarine

    how i make the rivets:

i cut them with a knife off a plastic rope ( polysterol rope)
you have to be patient ...very patient. . . .
and then put them with a brush to the point you need it

but i know two ways to make rivets
first cutting from a rope ( you can order Hexagon Rod and make screwnuts yourself)
    i order here http://www.modell4you.at/ ( hope its allowed to post that . . . . . )

the other way is to work with a leather-hole pliers
but the smallest rivet you can cut is 2 mm
if you buy such a leather-hole plier ,dont buy a cheap one !

so i have cut some hundreds rivets, and i used them. . ..

done lots of the small plating and lots ( !!! ) of rivets ...
    and a nice little smokestack

the cables at the right side are new too
and a maintenance flap netxt to the boy, you can see all the small plating and the rivets .. lots of work .. .

the maintenance flap and the cable thingy

another maintenance flap but with a nice special

    you can open it

    thats all for today ,
    have fun while watching

Re: Ork Battle Fortress/ Killakopta Carrier

If your gonna do it, you gotta do it right.. simple really.. so that mans you will have to put on another 300-500ish rivets, but when its done it will look AWSOME! (even moreso than now)

Re: Ork Battle Fortress/ Killakopta Carrier

    hi all,

havent done real much, still some work on the hallway ( my wife is back - now corrections)

    -->nkari
    well . . ... made a short count atm more then 2000 rivets .....think that 2000+ rivets still to come .. . . .....what have i done .. ......

atm i try to build the weapons for the sideturrets
made 4 zzap guns and 2 flamer but the zzap guns look crap and the flamer . . ...
so build 4 new zzap guns and 4 big guns
    they are all magnetized
below there is the old flamer and my new trial, not glued just stick together

want to make 2 flamers for the lower turrets and the front got 2 weapon options - atm there are 2 twin linked shoota and flamers are
planed. have you some ideas - perhaps 4 twin linked shoota for the side turrets to "downgrade" the whole thing.
it is atm VERY point intensive - got a short discussion with my local gw dealer - he was .. . .. irritated . . ..never saw such thing
5 mins later he still got this nervous eyelid twitch while thinking about rules for this thing .....

    c&c´s welcome

    bye

Wow this thing is looking fantastic.

I have done rivets using that method and wasn't very goo at it. Was just wondering if you had come up with a sweetsnd easy way to mass produce them since you use so many. Thanks for tutorial

Re: Ork Battle Fortress/ Killakopta Carrier

    hi all,
    thank you all

i need your help and your suggestions
    The current weapon options :

    1-right lower side turret
    zzap gun
    burna
    big gun
    2-left lower side turret
    zzap gun
    burna
    big gun
    3-right upper side turret
    zzap gun
    big gun
    4-left upper side turret
    zzap gun
    big gun
    5-right front weapon
    twin linked shoota
    6-left front weapon
    twin linked shoota
    7-main front weapon
    gatling kannon
    ork stompa belly gun
    hm... it could be just a lobber.. . hm. . . .
    8- main turret
    ork supa kannon
    (twin linked) ork kannon
    9-runway weapon
    flakk
    grot rokket

    + kopta hangar and runway

    is that too much ??
    or not enough?
and a larger amount of weapons ?
    i need your ideas ....

but other news - always was thinking about an exhaust
here is the fist try- just stick together

here it ist just fixed with tape

but i think i have to make a box or a big pipe between hull and exhaust - it is too small - what do you think ?

but there are more news - I am currently trying to resin casts from latex molds
was always impressed when i saw this here on warseer
just want to try myself and i am very interested !

here a close up from the door / bulkhead

and for further projects a wheel

and yes, they are all painted grey, because i use atm crystal resin for casts - still waiting for ebay order....

    c & c ´s very welcome

Re: Ork Battle Fortress/ Killakopta Carrier

    Sweet!
1 & 2 have Superskorchas in case units assault
    3 & 4 have kannons
    5 & 6 Twn-lk Shootas
For 7, not a fan of the belly gun since it fires every other turn. I would go with a supa-gatling or gigashoota
    8 maybe a death kannon
9 would be the perfect spot for AA, I like the Flak

Speaking of resin casts, I've been wanting to try that out. Are there any good sites/blogs/threads to reference?

I'd say: go for the visual impression. Take those weapons that look or "feel" right, and only when the model is done take the weapon profiles that fit the model best.

Re: Ork Battle Fortress/ Killakopta Carrier

    hi all,

    -->hokiecow

good ideas ...the supa gatling i have build.....
but the other one is just a big barrel - can use it as gigashoota, belly gun....
think i have 2 weapon options and just one barrel

im very sorry , no special blogs or something like this, just some in german
i watched some vids on youtube, like this http://www.youtube.com/user/XanderXereus
    - they are very interesting - take a look

    -->darnok
i think this is the best way . . first build and then decide what weapon i have . . .think i do this

as i wrote for hokiecow, watch some youtube vids, but in german i have this here http://www.modellbau-joachim.de/sil05.html
i bought there a test pack of silicone - its good - but i ordered my bigger stuff on ebay
    - the resin for my first casts i bought in a hobby store - its crystal - so i ordered pigments on ebay
i use vaseline as a release agent diluted with spirit - works well ( i have just 4 small molds)
my knowledge about casting, is very small - its new for me

    ---------

will try to make 2 part molds . . thats not so easy ... . waiting for my ebay order....
that means - this weekend happens nothing
not really nothing - i have to build my fortress, but casting is so cool....want to make more of this

    thats all

    hi,

    some news
i havent done 2 part molds..... done my tracks for the fortress

... . . yes . . the cast is not sooo good ... - the mold is good
but hey ..its my first real big one
and if you can see in the background - the right side of the fortress - nothing done - but friday evening
i have time for building !

its real hard for me to work on the fortress - this casting and sculpting thing makes me crazy . . ..
my head is full of ideas and i want to start.... ..
    but patience .. -zen- .. aarg. . . . ..grrrr

From the pic, it looks really good. I don't know what you're complaining about. If there are some minor defects, I'm sure they wil get washed out in the paint and since it's the lower portion of the model.

Hi Pitban, been following for a while now, I've just got to say that I love this build and really can't wait to see some paint on it. Fantastic stuff.

I'm with Hokiecow on this one, it looks fine. I think that 99.99% of what you're thinking of as defects will disappear by the time they're primed and painted, the remaining .01% should be embraced by your inner Mekboy as Kustom Jobs and therefore entirely intentional
Failing that, slight unique modification to each unit to fix any more serious flaws certainly won't hurt the overall impact of this beast.
