Favourite size of game?

Nice simple question - what is your preferred points limit, and why?

For me, I like the 2,600 point mark. Whilst it prevents Grand Armies, you're usually able to get the toys out, with a few critical choices to be made. Characters wise it opens up all non-special characters, as well as the vast majority of mounts, whilst keeping such things a compromise.

In addition, the armies can typically sit on a 6'4" board without packing it out, allowing room for manouevre (well, unless your really really fond of cheapo troops!)

Somehow, it just feels right for a pick up game. Plus the army can quite easily be deconstructed down, and your just a couple of units short of a Grand Army for really big games!

Me and my group usually play 2000-3400 (points rise during the campaign)
But the bigger the better is my motto and having 12k worth of WoC (at last count, bought more since then) i can field a decent sized army

2500 is by far my favorite. Enough points for a cool but not immensely decked out lord on giant monster.

2000- is just too squished and so variety suffers because once you're done taking everything you "need" you have no space left for flavorful things.

3000+ just gets silly with multiple hordes and too many rares.

I've been playing mostly 2.5k, especially in tournaments. But I used to play 2k - 2250. It seems this edition is made for slightly larger armies. Bigger games sound like fun eg. 3-4k but I've never had the chance to play in one.

I like 2000 point plus with my WoC as i find it hard to get alot of the things which i want in at 100 points

2500 is what I play the most...but my most enjoyable:

EITHER 1500 points OR 8000 points!

That's it - pure and simple! I find 1500 points to be fun, enough stuff to be cool but not enough to be serious - a real throw dice and have fun with it!

8000 points allows me to run mentally naked through a GW store shouting Waaagh! SOOOOOOO many models and recreating epic battles from WArhammer history!

2500 is the minimum level that will actually get me excited to write the armylist and play the game.

2000 I could tolerate out of necessity but would not feel good about it

1000-1500 I would rather just not play at all than field the pathetic warbands you're restricted to at those levels

We usually play 1000 points at my local games club, but I prefer 1500 as you can have some of the more fun options in then.

I've been playing a lot of warhammer skirmish lately, been enjoying those games a a lot, about 150-200 pts aside. Most fun game was the slayer vs Giant scenario, 6 slayers trying to take out a giant with some modified rules, hilarious.

As for "real" warhammer games, it depends. We used to play a lot of 1999 pts games in 7:th edition to avoid lords & too many rares, this has changed to 1500 pts under 8:th edition & I really enjoy those games & it feels balanced. However my favorite game under 8:th edition so far was when I faced 2 opponents in a 10000 pts game, my Chaos army (mixed, 5K warriors & about 2K each of daemons & beasts along with some Dogs of War & monsters) led by Archaon vs a mixed force of Dwarfs, Empire & Bretonnia led by Karl Franz. The game lasted for a whole weekend with many memorabe moments.

I used to always play around the 2.5k mark, but recently my group's been having a lot of fun trying out 500 - 1000 point games, just for quick, dice-throwy fun!
