    Disastrous run of games

So I had a promising looking Goliath gang which had slowly worked its way up the gang rating to close on 2000 points. My gang Leader was well equipped with a powersword and grenade launcher with plasma grenades, and had a nice spread of skills and v good Ballistic skill. We played a "triple Cross" game and he was racking up the kills / XP points when suddenly a local-nobody-weekend-militiaman heradshots him with a lasgun and killed him stone dead. Disaster for Scotland!

My next highest Ld for my gang was unfortunately a "fresh out of Juve school" ganger with Ld 8. Talk about gutted,WS/BS 2 I'd not even bothered to buy this fellow a weapon other than a club, he'd just been gaining XP due to taking part.

Never mind i thought, i've got a Plan B. I'd been saving up for a second heavy weapon (he'd been equipped with a flamer until now) so i thought that two reliable heavies with heavy stubbers would make up for it with their hail of bullets! The flamer went to my super tough T4 3W Juggernaut who'd just become a specialist too. I also had a scary hand-to-hand guy with a powerfist who was looking MEAAAANNN. The leader would stay out of trouble and "coordinate" things from the back until he had some decent upgrades...

So i took to my next game with optimism, and watched in horror as i managed to roll DEAD results for both my heavies in post game, while my best two gangers (the powerfist and the 3W specialist) proceeded to roll HEAD WOUND and so will suffer from stupidity/frenzy. In fairness, both gangers had taken a real pasting in the game, with no end of shots hitting but failing to wound, so it was quite cinematic - and very apt!

I literally can't believe it, my gang has dropped about 1000 points in two games, and my 2 best (surviving) fighters will be relegated to the subs bench because of their utter unpredictability.

Has anyone else suffered a terible turn in fortunes like this?

It happened to me right at the beginning of the last campaign I played. A ganger and a Heavy died in the first couple of games, and it took me another half dozen or so just to get back to where I started.

As for the guys with head wounds, it's not that bad. half the time it'll be frenzy, which is handy for a guy with a power fist, and even then, you get to make a Ld roll each turn to control it. Failing that, Skullchips are common items.

See i'm not sure about the skullchip (i assume you meant Lobochip?) for the powerfist guy - in fact, i've stashed the fist and his sword will follow! I'll buy him a flail instead. He's only Ld 6 (shellshock) but he had an I4, which i don't fancy dropping to 1 with the chip. Its good for getting himself out of being pinned and if he draws in combat (if he's not stupid).

On the other hand i might chip the T4 3W guy, and change his role to being a support shooter. I'd ditch the flamer as he'd probably never make it into short range just get constantly pinned with no real chance to get out of it.

I had a ganger with BS4, Bolt Pistol and Plasma Pistol, Gunfighter, Hipshooting and Leap which ended up with TWO head wounds. He was the comic relief of our battles.

    Re: Disastrous run of games

A few gmaes back one of my most promising juves (long since ganger) with 2 attacks, gunslinger and fast shot killed my opponents gang leader via 2 shotgun blasts to the face. He took some autogun shots in return though and bit the bucket as well

Its not such a drastic drop in rating as your own mind and my opponents are generally far worse off then I am.... But sometimes the smallest losses can hurt really badly. Losing gangleaders is obviously the worst hit (alongside 1 or both heavies...) but im sure your gang can drag itself out of the slums

Ive gotten myself 2 new juves again which I havent had for about 6-7 games now and I must say im curious to see how they develop Its all part of the game after all besides if your rating is now so low your probably an underdog meaning they will gain experience quikly as well, no? Think positive
