Converting The Stormraven To A Stormeagle

Hi! Do you think converting a stormraven to a stormeagle is viable?

    STORMEAGLE: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/STORM_EAGLE.html

    STORMRAVEN : http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...Id=prod900149a

I would hack off the hurricane bolters, add under slung lascannons, and maybe take off the assault cannons and put in cyclone missle launchers instead at an elevated position. What do you think?
    Thanks,

Seriously, if you're such a **** that you need a Chaos god to back you up in any fight you enter you deserve to get murdered. Real men do it by force of their own badass. And don't even get me started on those weak-ass mother **** psyker witch losers.

The cost of a Storm Raven kit plus cost of bitz/supplies to make conversion plus the value of your effort/time to actually do the conversion to a decent standard in my mind is more than the cost of the Forgeworld model.

Just get the tru-scale conversion kit from Chapterhouse Studios and mount some whirlwind launchers on the back.

This - save yourself £25-ish already with the conversion kit, take the cost of the whirlwind launchers out of that and you are still saving. However, the launchers are the only really bad part of the stormeagle, so I'd mount them under a wing or something. Also, no need to 'hack off' hurricane bolters, as they are effectivley optional doors. Just replace with the standard landraier doors from the Stormraven box, or get some cooler forgeworld ones.

The Storm Raven doesn't have Land Raider doors, they're Rhino ones. Even the front ramp matches up with the rear one off a Rhino. I "converted" an SR to Chaos long before the Storm Eagle came out and I used FW Alpha Legion Rhino parts for the front ramp and side doors.

To the OP: you won't need much to convert an SR to an SE. Most of the weapon load outs match up with the SR, a couple of them are in different locations than the SR's are.

Get a Truscale upgrade kit from Chapterhouse, a Whirlwind rocket box/ full turret, and some IG lascannons barrels (though you can use Razorback LC barrels instead, depending on your preference). Mount the Whirlwind box topside ( you might want to mount it in place of the turret to cover the hole) and glue the Lascannon barrels to the normal SR Missile housings ( Remember it's two barrels per housing).

Other than that, everything else matches up as normal.

The Stormeagle isn't a Stormraven with resin conversion bits? (I thought that's what it was.)

That'd suprise me. Compare the headlights at the side of the nose and the engine covers: that's a lot of minor differences in what are single large plastic pieces in the storm raven kit. A few pieces may match, but I doubt it's enough to warrant including any one complete storm raven sprue.
    Awesome. Awesome to the head.

I watched a video on youtube of a guy unpacking the stormeagle kit, and the resin kit comes with a couple (but not all) plastic sprues from the Stormraven kit.

The floor, and hull sides are all resin, the cockpit and wings are plastic. the engines are about 50/50 resin and plastic.

    This should be the link.

He had a nother video of the completed model, (I'm off to work now, so maybe I'll link it later.) but he did mention that this was one of the most brutal forgeworld model assemblies he had ever been through. Not something a guy should try if he hasn't built FW models before.

    I stand corrected and suprised.
