Computer monitor is Drekked and I don't know why... ?

Ok, the Monitor is receiving power, but no signal.
    I have tried the following;
    • Changed the monitor.
    • Changed the lead.
    • Changed the Graphics card.
    • Fiddled about the RAM - Did find one that appears to be dead, but removing it made no difference.

None of which helped for Squat.
The computer is fully booting (I have sound, and it is going into windows) which I assume rules out the mother board.

    Any ideas?

Edit: Oh, and booted it with no inputs except the monitor itself.

Tried booting in SAfe mode? Can you see the POST text? (the white text when you first turn it on) IF you can press F8 and you will get the option to boot into safe mode, then set the resolution to something low then reboot.

Also have you tried a different VGA cable, some times they come molded into the monitor, other times are separate

Maybe the VGA cable, yeah. Also, check if a pin isn't bent in the plugs?

Does the monitor work on a different computer?

Silly idea but are there screens that draw power from the computer's power supply? Only thing I could think of might be shortage of power supply.

Based on your troubleshooting up until now I'm really kind of clueless. Do you have another PCIe port? If so you could try that, maybe that's the problem? :S

Not that I've ever seen on a standard home PC.

I've seen some weird equipment at work that worked that way, but I doubt he has them at home.

If Graphics card was playing up you should get POST beeps

Could be the VGA/DVI/HDMI cable needs replacing.

Another fix I have seen that can work on certain monitor models (CRT and TFT) is to remove the power cable from the back and wait until the standby light goes out (5 seconds or so) then reseat the power cable.

This doesn't look to be any kind of PC problem because it will boot into Windows, hardware errors such as GPU, memory or motherboard normally cause issues within POST.

Otherwise the Monitor has died, they're not worth trying to get fixed or anything (and I'd highly recommend against trying to open it up to take a look.) Easiest to just suck it up and buy a replacement.

Can't be the monitor, he said he changed it. That being said, he hasn't come back since, so I guess it's been fixed.

Ah - skim reading missed that, still - not unheard of for two monitors to die (especially if they are a similar age).
    Unlikely, but not unheard of...

OK, I'm assuming it's been fixed then too, can help further if OP comes back.

Re: Computer monitor is Drekked and I don't know why... ?

Sorry, been busy the last few days.

Tried safe mode and a few other things I can't even remember anymore (I did find that one of the RAM sticks appears to be faulty, but after trying it all again, this wasn't the [sole] issue here) and the best idea I've been given is that it's damage somewhere between the monitor and graphics card (Something overheating a melting struck a cord, as it does tend to get a bit hot...)

So at this point, replacing the motherboard seems my best bet (Unless someone has another idea, because I'd love to not have to dump another load of money, what with a wedding coming up) which is proving an issue because of the age of the components -_-

    So, I have;

    CPU: Intel® Core 2 Quad Q6600
    Memory: 8.0GB Corsair DDR2 667mhz (4x 2GB)
    Hard Drive: 500GB S-ATA2 3.0Gb/s
    Optical Drive: 20x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: NVidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB

Due to a complete lack of being able to find the motherboard I have for sale (Gigabyte GA-N650SLI-DS4L) I was wondering if someone can point me toward a new motherboard that actually will work this lot

    Edit:
I'm not great with the Hardware aspect, but this looks like it will work?

    Edit 2:
Won't start up at all now, but I did notice that the cable connecting the Hard drive is damaged, so I guess it's possible I just imagined the connecting to windows? :/
Anyway, my dad is having a crack at sorting the power problem, so I guess we'll see if it is the Hard Drive cable, or if it's just so thoroughly screwed I should just give up on it.

Not that I've ever seen on a standard home PC.
Used to be common in the 90s, I had three different PCs where the monitor had no own power supply, but took it from the computer.

But at least we're not back in the olden days of the Amstrad CPC where the computer got the power from the monitor ^^.

I had the same problem as OP, turns out I had my monitor set to the Xbox input rather than pc, it's silly but it had me stumped for a week!
