Re: The Hills Hobbyists' "Army Challenge" Thread ... and stuff

Unfortunately didn't get too much done this month, will have to catch up at some point.
So I painted 10 Goblin Wolf Riders with Spears (They are meant to have shields as well, but I kinda forgot about them).
Weighs in at 110 points. Will probably paint up my Orc Shaman to make up my points fairly quickly.

You'll notice the Goblins look a bit wonky on the Wolves. They aren't glued on yet... for transporting purposes since I don't have any slots in my case for them at this moment.

Re: The Hills Hobbyists' "Army Challenge" Thread ... and stuff

Here's my first unit finished - except for the top of the standard which is going to be a rather large skull when I find an appropriate one.

384 points worth of Ogre Bulls.
Still got a bit of work left on the Ironguts, but nothing a good solid painting session can't fix

Great Will! Big units of Ogres look the business :v)
Can I make a suggestion? Pop some Snow on top of the rocks too, for me they look a little out of place without any snow on them.
Not much, just a little. Feel free to ignore.

I am up to highlighting on the Slaves. Haven't started yet, but that's the next stage.

I've not painted any Warhammer stuff this month, thus far. I have painted 4 Guardsmen and a Captain/Officer for Victoria Miniatures, as well as 15 heads... So I don't know where the heads come in, but the Guard would come to about 60 points (as a command squad) if I use the Hand-flamer as a plasma pistol. I think the forum rules prevent me posting the pics, but you can check them out on my Facebook timeline.

I've also been basing and base-coating 15 Wracks, 10 Scourges, 3 Jetbikes, a Haemonculus and 5 Warriors for my Dark Eldar army.

How are people going? Only a few days left in July.
I'm hoping to knock the rest of my models out this weekend. So far I've pretty much finished my Orc Shaman for last month, and done completed 5 out of 10 Black Orcs.
Just need to finish the remaining 5 and paint up a Rock Lobber. We'll see how it goes!

    Hey guys,
I've been a little slack this month with painting...
After knocking off that unit of Bulls all I've managed to do is to base coat and wash the metal on my Ironguts (still need a drybrush, then leather bits, eyes and bases and the standard).
Hopefully I'll get these finished early next month and paint 4 mournfangs (not the riders just the beasts)

    Here you go Sam,
    http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...-Bull-Centaurs

I've got nothing done last month, so it's a zero for me, I'll update the table again once everyone has a chance to put stuff up, got some free time on my hands now so will have plenty of time to catch up this week.

No worries Ben, already included. Nice work on those too, very fallout themed for some, I like!

Not really part of the painting competition, just though I'd post some photos of the game recently played. (apologies for the blurry photos, they looked better on my phone)

But the scenery, and one of the armies looked good enough to display - the other was a mess of very large monsters

Those photos look good, we made a good battlefield by pooling Will's, Alistair's and my terrain. The scenario was a bit odd though, in the way it encouraged units to commit suicide. However, these photos are related to the painting challenge. You can see the excellent base-coating you've done on the Stonehorn.

Looks like a pretty amazing battle going on.

Well I'm more than half a month late, but finally finished off my stuff from last month.
So I've got an Orc Shaman, 10 Black Orcs and a Rock Lobber. Totals up to 330 points in total.

On the painting table for the Orcs this month is only 10 Black Orcs. So gonna be a bit behind schedule again, oh well! Them's the breaks for being lazy and having other painting projects going at the same time, gotta finish some Bloodbowl figures before Southern Shrikebowl and that's a little more important at this stage!

Great progress, awesome looking army so far, I really like the yellow on the black orc's armour, a nice change to the usual colours I see. I'm hoping to post some stuff later today or tomorrow, just need to get some non fuzzy pictures.

I know I'm a few days late, but the Ironguts are now complete as well.
    Photos will come soon.

9 Ironguts with full command comes in at 417 points.

I'll start on the Mournfang soon.

I'm still unsure what design to paint onto the Banner. I was originally planning to do it white to build on the stark/cold appearance, but it may be a little light, so I will probably go with a red similar to the hair colour. (also, I do have a top for the Bulls standard in mind, but I am yet to acquire one)

And the full army so far

    Hi guys,

Sorry I've been so absent. My life kind-of exploded... haven't done hobby for a couple of weeks.
I'm back doing it tonight though, but I'm painting Vic minis and Bloodbowl stuff... I'll post piccies when I can.

Remember, hit me up if you're keen for a Hobby session.

Understandable Ben, I think most of us went out of it for a month or two, I've updated the table on the first page and as it stands Wills the only one one target by 1 point. As for me, as I haven't posted anything for a long time I thought I should show that I have been doing stuff. So here's 5 pistoliers and a warrior priest finished, total of 192 points.

And I've got 10 Crossbowmen and 10 Greatswords needing their final highlights so at the end of this month I will have 10 crossbowmen and 20 greatswords completed. What have other been up to lately?

Can't really put a points value on it. But I need 1500pt painted by the end anyway, so it doesn't need one. Put me down for 0.

October will hopefully see 290 points of mournfang painted...

Re: The Hills Hobbyists' "Army Challenge" Thread ... and stuff

So, Its been a quite month again for me (at least where painting was concerned)

I've made a start on my big gribblies. The flesh/fur/stone of my stonehorn is complete. leaving just the armour, straps and skulls to paint (and base)
My mournfang I'm not too sure on. I thought I'd go for a polar bear type look (thinking they weren't quite big enough to survive without some natural camoflage. But I'm not sure how well it has come out...

Also, I still have the riders to do as well.
Hopefully if I get these finished this month, it will add another 500ish points

    How is everyone else going?

    Hey guys,

So this is a bit of a trial of a knights colour scheme, I was hoping for some feedback whether they tied in alright with the greatswords, the free hand needs a bit more work but any help would be great, It;s a bit of a take on the knights of the blazing sun, I was considering mixing some yellow into the gold for some highlights, or doing a green shield without the freehand, just some symbol, also how do you paint scratches in armour, I tried a bit there but they look a bit odd I found.
