The Hull. The ramp has nothing to do with it.
Ive seen this debated quite a bit, seems to be most people agree upon the hull.
But... the ramp is part of the hull, until it opens, so the rules are kind of weird.
General opinion is the hull mate. From a fluffy point of view the ramps are blown off on impact to allow whatever its carrying to disembark.
Most games I play we don't even bother to the doors. It just makes a mess of the rules.
It's open-topped. You can pile out anywhere.
Don't be so sensitive.
First of all that isn't the original question, and even the answer is wrong. You cannot pile out 'anywhere', but within 2" of the vehicle access points, or 2" from the hull if it's open topped. For all intents and purposes the doors are ignored altogether, they are purely decorative. Don't have a rulebook or codex handy so cannot quote directly, but it is mentioned somewhere in the drop pod rules.
yeah, the marines come out off the main body of the pod, not the doors, they are decorative. ignore them for all intenta and purposes. (though drop pods would be so much better if you could do this)
is rumored to be an indoctrinated necron slave![]()

Occasionally accused of being helpful and constructive.
OneringBook to rule them all, oneringplace to find them, OneringCodex to bring them all, and in theDarknessfuture bind them. Time for the unified Marine Codex.
You would also check range till the door when firing at them. Anyway anything movable is not part of the hull.
