If experiencing the Warp can sometimes become allegories in the mind of the viewer (i.e., a rocky beach or an ocean or a network of caves), the beacon of the Astronomican could be a consistent metaphor in the interpretation of the traveler. i.e., it could be the 'Sun' if the experience is an open field or it could be a lit tunnel if the experiencer is perceiving the warp as being underground.

Took me a very long time to realise you said "beacon of the Astronmican", El_Machinae. That thought has been engraved into my soul.

There's a large element of truth to that I think, but then it's also worth bearing in mind that no individual exists in a cultural vacuum. Our perceptions and beliefs are shaped by the communities we grow up within and by society at large. For instance, if I asked someone to describe an angel or Santa Claus pretty much everyone would describe them in similar terms regardless of where they came from - even if they didn't believe in these them. The imagery/trope is quite culturally fixed. Small details may vary, but the generally description would be the same.

In terms of how things manifest in and from the Warp, I imagine the same would apply. The Astronomican is described throughout the religion, popular culture, art and politics of the Imperium as being a great light - a manifestation of the Emperor's glory and protection, piercing the darkness of the Warp. Even those who know nothing of daemons or Chaos would still likely know about the Astronomican as something implicit to the very fabric of the Imperium that the Emperor has created to enable safe 'sailing' through the Warp. Hence it's likely that most human psykers would be predisposed to perceive the Astronomican in a very similar manner: a brilliant guiding light.

I can imagine the imperium teaching psykers who haven't discovered their power on their own to see the warp in a very specific way to make them easier to teach. Self taught psykers on the other hand may see it very differently. and those taught by chaos in yet another way.

I think the colour of the sea is a good likeness, depending on which culture you ask they'll say the sea has different colours. But its still a body of water to all of them. And if you look beyond your own experiance you can see that the colour actually changes depending on the surrounding, just as the warp does. This is just regarding how humans perceive the warp of course and jsut liek the warp no metaphor is capable of containing it.
