    1850 Crisis Suit Spam

    40K Army: Tau
    HQ

    Commander Farsight

    BODYGUARD
3x Crisis Suits - Three Main Systems: Missile Pod, Fusion Blaster, Multi-Tracker, Hard Wired Systems: Drone Controller (2x shield drones), Target Lock
4x Crisis Suits - Three Main Systems: Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker, Hard Wired Systems: Drone Controller (2x shield drones), Target Lock
    Total: 885 points

    ELITE
3x Crisis Suits - Three Main Systems: Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker
3x Crisis Suits - Three Main Systems: Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker
1x Crisis Suits - Three Main Systems: Missile Pod, Flamer, Multi-Tracker
    Total: 414

    TROOPS
6 Fire Warriors -Devilfish: Disruption Pod
6 Fire Warriors -Devilfish: Disruption Pod
    Total: 290

    HEAVY
3x Broadsides - 2x Broadsides with Target Lock, 1x Broadside with Drone Controller (2x Shield Drones)
    Total: 250

    GRAND TOTAL: 1849

Leaving the Fire Warriors off the table as long as possible and avoiding contact with the enemy (hugging terrain and using those Disruption Pods). The main thrust of the army is the suits. I have 3 broadside shots per turn targeting enemy transports or threats. I have 3 fusion guns (melta) the question is to deepstrike them or jetpack up and attack (situational).

With the amount of plasma, missiles, and AT this should make short work of most Marine armies. While I have only two troop choices my goal is only to have 1 more objective (and if all of the enemy's troops are dead that becomes a possibility).

What do you think? Is the list a viable option in today's meta of GK Paladin death stars and Long Fang missile spam?

It seems like a pretty solid list, if it's main opponents are going to be Marines/Grey knights things of that nature.
But at this points level you have 30 models on the table, which means your going to be massively outmanned compared to some armies, and im not sure if about 120 shots at bs3 can deal with that.
As changes go I always like to have a Hammerhead, maybe free up the points by dropping a broadside and some suits? although if you think this alters the theme of the army then dont bother.
3 broadsides in a unit seems a bit overkill, and a unit of deep striking vanguard vets or similar could probably put some unwanted pressure on in the early game.

Other than that I really love this concept and i think you've excecuted it well, seems like this list would be alot of fun to play.

While I'm not a Tau player I do have alot of experience facing SW missile spam and Driago-wing lists and I can't say I think you will do well against them. This is not your list in particular mind you, simply the Tau's own limitations. For Draigo it's lack of Str.8 to insta-kill the paladins. Even with you plasma, they all have 2 wounds and inval saves so you won't be killing many a turn, and god help you if the make into CC. Also, their deadnoughts with dual ACs w/psybolts are Str.8 so your battlesuits can be torn apart very easily if they arn't in cover so you will need to play extra careful.

For anti-sw the problems are different, namely all of your low-AP weaponry is hampered by the abundance of cover and mechanization. Not to mention your own battlesuits don't last long versus Str.8 which those lists have an abundance of. They have numbers to, all of which are likely in razorbacks so you will have your hands full with target saturation while they can pick you apart much easier given your low numbers.

Now outside of those lists I think you have pretty solid setup (my own CSMs wouldn't not like to face that list at all), but against WAAC players and lists I don't think you're going to hold up well, especially if that's what you are expecting to face.

    Good luck!

Just a note, cover will do nothing here. Autocannons are AP4 and Crisis suits (and their shield drones) alrerady have a 3+ armor save. You'd need a heavily fortified terrain with base 3+ AND going to ground (not that it would be a good idea) to get any benefit from cover against ACs.

try using 2 man xv squads with shield droans. be careful about fusion blasters on the farsight bomb. 12inch is very close and you dont want to get the whole lot tied up in CC. you could run a death express with him. put 5-7 death trains (flamers optional) and abuse the 30 inch range on the missile pods 14 strength 7 shots will kill something and at a safe distance.
