    Knights of the white wolf

Hey guys, I would like to create a knights of the white wolf regiment in my army, using the great weapon option for every knights as it comes free instead of the lance and shield.
But in the knight's box there is only one two hand hammer, the remaining one are one hand weapon. Does it mean that the rest of the regiment can only get hand weapon and shield..... Which isn't as great as +2 S.
I guess I could use the 'count as' rule, but I like my soldier to have what they are meant to use in battle.
    Any tips?

The whole unit must be equipped the same so the entire unit will count as having great weapons.

As for bitz, look around online. You might find a place that sells empire bits separately

I seem to recall from the olden days that it was sufficient that the majority of the unit be armed the same way, though I do not recall if this rule made it into 8th edition.

The hammer option in the kit dates from when KotWW had special "cavalry hammers" that were a hybrid of lances and halberds, rather than regular Great Weapons. I don't recall if they were meant to be two handed or not though.

Anyway, could you not claim the weapons as two handed bu being carried in one hand to give greater control of their mounts or something?

Yeah you can either explain the 'cavalry hammers' thing to your opponents or trawl the bits websites and eBay for two handed hammers. Space wolf ones make decent conversions.

This, reasonable from both rules and fluff POV.

In the previous book there was in the description a phrase saying something like "while some hammers are one-handed, just count the whole unit as using great weapons".

Also, if some hammers are clearly two handeds, and no knight use a shield, then there shouldn't be any confusion possible.

You can also easily convert knights with greatswords by using leftover arms and weapons from the Greatsword sprues, that what I did, as the Empire bataillon don't get the White Wolf Sprue anymore, and the Greatswords have many leftover bitz.

I think the general assumption when looking at Empire knights is that if they're not carrying lances and shields then they count as GW armed. The lance is such a distinctive weapon that it's fairly easy to tell when a model is not carrying one.

As an aside I'm looking forward to converting a unit of knights of the everlasting light with greatswords, just as soon as I can afford to buy a box of greatswords for the parts I need.

You can turn greatswords unit swordsman and use there.blades someone at my local store appears to have done this.

You don't even have to convertyour greatswords into something else, there are already enough arms and weapons on the sprues to both make all the greatswords and convert your knights.

I too used greatsword arms to make questing knights using a brettonian knight kit as well.
