    Tau Rule Query

Just started up Tau (love them!) and have come across something i am unsure of

Can 3 Broadsides with Targeting Arrays fire at 3 different targets?

    I have checked the FAQ...nothing
I have read and re-read the rule entry...no Clue

I simply ask because i have been to a few pages and no one seems to have argued against it (which no doubt many people on beautiful warseer shall)

I want to take 3 squads of 3 into a local 1750 tournament and i would like an idea of if it is legal to do that

    Many thanks in adavnce
    Epic fail Moment
    - Guard sqaud first rank fire second rank fires into a squad of 10x death company. 130 shots i kill 0, as in no wounds caused, my dice hated me
And the best epic moment ever to happen to me
    - Primaris psyker in combat with mephiston, he fails to kill me i cause one wound, pass the psycic test and instant kill him (psyker then died to a Furiso Dread...a worthy end)

You are confusing targeting arrays and target locks.

The core 40k rules require that whole units fire at the same target. So if those 3 broadsides are in the same unit, they'd normally be required to fire at the same target at all times. Target locks allow for exceptions (details are spelled out in the codex, but ignore the bit referring to target priority checks), but targettting arrays do not.
    Awesome. Awesome to the head.

With Target Locks, yes. Targeting arrays increase BS. Though you only need 2 target locks to fire at 3 seperate targets.

I assume you meant "Target Lock" as "targeting arrays" give +1BS.

yes they can all fire independently however you only need to buy 2. As the the model without will essentially by firing at a different unit than the others. no need to waste the points there.

Note the text for target locks that all firing for that unit must be declared before dice are rolled.
