    Dropzone Commander - Hawkwargames

Anyone manage to see these guys at Salute on the weekend? I missed the show sadly, but noticed them on Beastsofwar's video feed. the minatures look excellent and remind me strongy of games like Supreme commander

if anyone has any pics or information on the rule set please add them!

The minis looked great but 10mm is a pain in the behind as it makes it very hard to use the minis with existing collections of either 6mm or 15mm SF. I assume this is intentional.

The rules are apparently in playtesting, nobody publicly knows any more than that.

Looks pretty intriguing so far, though I can't access Brueckenkopf from work

The guy behind it designed a lot of the first wave Uncharted Seas minis. This is what he's been doing since.

Awesome looking models, 10mm is close to 1/144 which unless I'm mistaken is the scale used in Heavy Gear (and Wizkids Mechwarrior). Not the most common scale in wargaming but it sure picked my interest.

    Re: Dropzone Commander - Hawkwargames

If you want to be picky about it, "10mm" is about 1/160. Depending on where you look, N gauge model railway scenics are that scale or thereabouts. Reaper's CAV line is also N gauge, and Pendraken make (rather ropey) 10mm scifi. The old Babylon 5 Gropos line from Agents of Gaming was in that scale, too.

    Re: Dropzone Commander - Hawkwargames

I heard an interview with him on the Meeples and Miniatures Salute shows and ....I have to admit that I found the guy really unsympathetic with this "very enthusiastic" kind of marketing talk of his. He probably was just nervous and/or exhausted but talking like a human being instead of SELLING would have been nice. I'll look into the system when it's released and I wish him all the best but at the moment I'm not really interested. The miniatures look nice but not quite intriguing.

The models certainly look fantastic. Wonder hat the rest of the range looks like and what the game will be like to play?

looks very nice so far, not sure if it's something ill get into - shall have to see more of the infantry I think, hopefully the aliens will be non-humanoid and not bugs/insects either.

To be fair, those Scourge infantry are human hosts. There's no indication yet what an actual Scourge looks like.

Like huge space squids maybe? I am not suggesting it's a very visible source of inspiration, just that it is a very visible source of inspiration.

Either way, I am warming up to it despite the slightly wierd scale, mostly because the premise of the game is quite novel.

All you whippersnappers thinking 10mm is an odd scale for Sci fi! What about Heavy Gear, GroPos, C.A.V., or the 10mm range from Pendraken (crappy as it is)? It's not that long since 15mm was the odd scale.

Aaand..um...something that's not dead or on life support (HGB)?

I never said they were current. Just that 10mm is older than some think. HG Blitz seems to be doing pretty well these days, though.
