    Game of Thrones Season 2

So who is watching the second season? I am really enjoying it at the moment.
I am no book purist, so I don't mind the streamlining of the story arcs such as Aryas and Danys.

I liked Larrys point that in Episode 4 there were two Starks saved by Lannisters.
I hadn't noticed it myself, but it was a cool equalising effect.

Please enclose book spoilers in spoiler tags with a line before it saying that it is a book spoiler [and also stating which book it is from].
Any broadcast episode is considered fair game, so if you haven't seen the most recent episode(s), please beware.

Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion: ... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!

Re: Game of Thrones Season 2

Really good so far Tryion still gets all the best lines though Bronn got a good one in about things you can't cure that I can't write here. And the line about "he is born of smoke and salt" (Mellisandre) in reply "what is he a ham then" (Renly) the one liners are coming thick and fast and are just verging on over done but not there yet.

I have no major issues with the changes from the book. This season has seen far more changes than season 1 but they have so much to cram into 10 episodes. They have shortened Arya's part a lot but kept the essence of it. I looked forward to reading her chapters when I read the book so I'm glad I read it before seeing it. Dany really doesn't have a whole lot to do anyway and John has disappeared for now after featuring heavily at the start.

I get that they are cutting the battle scenes for now to save money and time it's not a major problem for me.

Is it just me or does it seem like they are over doing Joffrey's sadistic side i don't remember him being that sadistic in the book.

The shadow birth I had no problem with. The shadow being had a far more physical appearance than the book and it's not how I imagined it but it was still well done IMO.

The one thing that has jarred slightly is Craster he is nothing like I pictured him. Craster is a wildling and to me he should look more like Lord Frey - old, thin, haggered looking balding with long hair. Hannah Murray seems a bit wooden as Gilly but hasn't had much to do - yet.

I wasn't sure Gwendoline Christie could pull of Brienne from a looks point of view but she has her spot on she even cut her own hair like that (same as Masiie Williams - Arya ended up doing as the wig was wrecking her head - literally)

I could watch Natalie Dormer all day she's a little to old for the part of Margaery Tyrell but aren't they all.

Book Spoiler - Storm of Swords

Harrenhal looked great even more twisted than I imagined as did Quarth and the Iron Islands. They even went to the trouble of making Stannis's table that is actually carved as a map of Westoros. All of the armour is really well made and finished.

Have you noticed that Liam Cunningham is either wearing gloves or has his hands behind his back so they don't have to deal with Davos' missing fingers. Rorge Has far more of his nose than the books for a similar reason. This leads me to belive that:

So far im liking season 2, it seemed to start a little slow but has started picking up

Im really liking Bronn, very cool and says what he wants really and likes the imp

Joffrey is still as punchable as ever, even more so with current events

The hound is looking very conflicted and uncomftable at times, im thinking he is going to do something big at some point

AFAIK, they won't be trying to fit all of Clash of Kings into Season 2, so there may be parts of Book 3 in this season and parts of Clash of Kings in Season 3.
Being less rigid should give them some leeway top fit more in. But shortening unnecessarily long chapters is fine by me.

Seems weird that everyone would know that. Presumably the Lannisters are spreading it as propagada

I think she is perfect for the role, though if you read her story about making the transformation it is a little sad.

I love Natalie, she is so unusually beautiful. And I like every scene she is in.

Agreed, I really liked that the Harrenhal in the opening sequence was broken. Production values are through the roof. I can't imagine what the budget is, or what it would be if we got all the battle scenes that the fans want!

Yeah, it would probably have been easier to costume up a missing hand, but missing fingers is probably difficult.
His shortened glove looks so lifeless everything we see it so best they don't draw attention to it.
And I would have assumed that is what they would have done anyway.

I dunno, I actually think the chick who plays Margaery Tyrell is quite ugly. To each their own. Bronn is rapidly becoming my favorite character, far moreso than he was in the books. Though, I also enjoy Ser Jorah Mormont. I might enjoy Ser Jorah Mormont because Daenerys is one of the few genuinely attractive women in this series

I have really tried to watch it, but it does not do it for me..at all. The acting, the stereotyping..nope.

But I hope you folk enjoy it though..

Oh I forgot about that very true.

Can I suggest that we also identify the book that the spoiler relates to as not all are from A Clash of Kings. I have edited my post accordingly.

Then that suggests the series may be taking a different route all together, unless they are holding off on that storyline.

While i think i would have liked this series had i not read the books, i have. And the massive and in many cases needles changes they have done in many cases for no other reason then to make sure everyone gets how eviiiiiiiiiiil a certain character is, or changing names because people will get confused~? Ruins it for me.

I really like the book Starship Troopers.
I also like the movie, because I can separate them in my head.
Perhaps you could try watching the show on its own merits?

Impossible, star-ship troopers had very very little in common with the books other then naming, this series IS the book only with some minor changes and additions which so far in my view have all been for the worse. Judging it on its own merits is hard to do when it has no merits. Unless you count things like costumes and the like, in which case it is very pretty too look at and has a killer opening sequence.

Im watching too and enjoying. I think the changes they have made from the books have been overall good. They have streamlined where needed (eg the long dragged out bit before Harrenhall) I was concerned about the Shadow birth but feel they did it really well.

Another awesome episode. So much happens!

I liked Renly a lot more in the show than I did in the books. RIP.

Davos has a point, when he says Melisandre is winning Stannis's war.
But you still don't necessarily want to leave your strongest piece behind.

I've been looking forward to Qhorin, and the actor seems cool enough.
