It was also more than just a fire; actual stone structures were pulled down and damaged. They just didn't have the money to show anything bigger than they did.

The two boys must know it was their side or allies who sieged the castle, I mean who els would it be right? Why didn't they join them or ask for help?
Also when the two boys went to see the old man(care taker of Winterfell - the guy who got speared in the gut), why didn't the old man just tell them to go find the men who are did the siege? I mean the old man knew it was Theon's enemy because he told Theon to run away the night before Theon made a speech.
So the old man should have told the boy... hey guys... Theon and his men are burning the castle down and they are running away.... you guys should stay here and find our allies (people who were blowing the horns) and ask for help?
Why didn't the 2 boys heard the horns?
Was all this a loop hole in the plot or there is just something that we don't know?
From what I've read elsewhere the sacking of Winterfell has been left deliberately vague to explain it in to much detail now may spoil an event that happens in season 3 and the producers don't want people guessing about this event before hand. It will probably be explained at some point in season 3 even if it's just an after the fact report between certain characters some of whom haven't been introduced (or cast) yet. In the book Maester Luwin (the caretaker you speak of) tells Bran and Rickon to head north to the wall and to trust no one this part was left out of the TV series. I doubt they heard the horns as they where hiding in the crypts which are deep under Winterfell again this is never properly explained it looks like they are just hiding in a cellar.

Maester Luwin did tell them to go north to the wall and to find John Snow. Osha did not like this idea and spoke out against it in the tv show too but agreed to the Maesters wishes to take care of the boys. The final scene there in the show had Osha pull out a dagger to assist the Maester as he declined the milk of the poppy suggestion from Osha.

I probably didn't write that correctly - I rewatched the scene before posting he tells them to head north to Jon but the line about not trusting anyone on the way and staying away from villages and that from the book was omitted from the TV version.
I hope Bran will feature alot more in the coming season Esp with the introduction of the brother and sister. I was really starting to enjoy where his path was leading to in the books. C'MON GEORGE!!! hurry up and finish book 6!!!
Here in Sweden the Battle for Blackwater was broadcast yesterday.
As a reader of the books I can say I'm disappointed in some ways with the episode - the fact that Tyrion rode out since he's no match on the ground, lacking the chain, which was Tyrions major tactic and sealed Stannis' fleet's fate - but that the actors made up for it.
Especially Tyrion and Bronn. God, I love Bronn.
The scene where Bronn sings The Rain of Castamere was really wellorchestrated.
And, on a sidenote.
When the Hound tries to goad Bronn into a fight... Who would be the most likely winner if that fight would take place?^^

Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion:... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!
Russ:
