    1000pt VC all rounder.

    Fantasy Army: Vampires
    After my last 2 disatrous outings with my VC (last edition list) I've had another go at a list to try at the club next week.
    We are going for 1k pts so as to get two or three games in, and my opponents will likely be Wood elves, bretonoians, empire, and lizardmen.

    What do you lot think of this as a all round list?

    Master Necro:
    -master of the dead
    -seed of rebirth =195

    Vamp:
    -shield =107

    15 skeles:
    -standard
    -screaming banner =110

    20 zombies:
    -standard =65

    15 skeles:
    -champ, standard =95

    Corpse Cart =90

    3 Crypt Horrors =114

    Terrorgheist =225

    Total = 1001pts

    The idea is to hopefuly ION up the skeles and zombies as much as possible to give them some chance of surviving, and use the monsters to deal the damage.

    terrorgheist at 1000 points:P mmm oke... strong mayb a bit to strong.. anyway rest of all i like your list.. gouls seems to do pretty well at 1000 points tho even a unit of 15 can dish out some serieus damage.. maybe get 1 block up to 30 would help a lot if your opent is bretonnians.. 15 is just to small most of the times it crumbles to fast.

    Add the 2 units of skellies together definately.

    I'd ditch the 'gheist and take a 'gulf in it's place. Use the spare points to increase one of the units of skellies to 20 and give them both full command. Take a musician for the zombies. Maybe give your Vampire Heavy armour and it comes to exactly 1000 points.

    Make it 2 units of 20 zombies instead of 2 units of skelies. The difference between skelies and zombies is negligible, except that zombies get raised twice as fast.

    Skellies will get more hits in combat than zombies due to WS1 on the zombies. You really need every hit you can get in order to be able to do some damage. Zombies are a liability in combined combats, skellies less so (not much, but every little helps).

    Theoryhammer/mathshammer tells us that in an average round of combat vs. empire halberdiers (assuming both are 5 wide) will see around 6 zombies die, compared to 4 skeletons. The return attacks will see approx. 3 kills from the skellies, or 1 kill from the zombies. Zombies lose by 5 wounds, Skeletons by 1 wound.

    I think ghouls are better than skeletons as they can do some damage. But most importantly you need to drop something from your list so that its a legal 1k list. I'd recommend just a skeleton to do it.
    My goal for the year is to get another 100 models painted.
    So far I haven't touched a brush.

    Swapping the terrorgheist for the varghulf is a good move.

    I also would combine those skeleton units. I know you plan on raising more, but don't neglect the possibility that you don't get the spell off in time, or that you take casualties before reaching combat. Counting on a spell or two to get cast usually spells disaster in my games.

    I would drop that corpse cart. You don't really have anything that makes taking it worthwhile. I'd use the points to get ethereals (especially good at this point level) or to buff up one of the skeleton units (assuming you don't want to combine them).

    Also I find that if you're not going to do something right, don't do it at all. Give that vampire a GW or something. And definitely find the points to give him armor (magic or otherwise). Maybe use the points saved from the corpse cart to give him some protection and some killing power.
