Spartacus: Gods of the Arena question...

Just a quickie, watched the first episode last night, and am wondering if they actually mention how far in front of Blood & Sand it is set? Had a quick google and couldn't find anything on it...

I don't think it's ever mentioned specifically, but I'd say 10 years tops? Can't be much more as Crixus still looks youngish...

yeah it can't be that far ahead, it was a while ago that i saw GotA though, recurring characters hardly aged and i'd be surprised it's even a long as 10 years, how often are fights in the area held? No matter how good would any gladiator last 10 years?

Hmmm, 10 years would fit with the fact that they've gone to a lot of effort to make certain people (Batiatus, Lucrecia, Selonius) look younger. But if it is 10 years, that slavegirl is doing pretty well (Crixus' love-interest) I could understand others looking the same (Doctore, Asher, a hairy Crixus), but if it is 10 years she should be a lot younger. I suppose it's useful that they haven't given a specific time, as it helps them be a little vague on things like that.

I'd say It's closer to 1 or 2 years use Asher as a reference.

True, although there is one scene in the latest series where Lucretia mentions a certain gladiator's association with the Ludus and that the individual hadn't been seen in years prior to Spartacus arriving.

No more than five years, according to the commentary and a scene from Vengeance.

I'll stick this here rather than create a new thread or drag up an older one. Season 4 (or is it 3) will be called Spartacus: War of the Damned and it will be the final season (10 episodes) as Starz are pulling the plug. It was originally planned to be a 5 to 7 season story but I think they've realised that there's probably only enough interest left in it for one more season. I think it's probably best for Spartacus, end on a high and not drag things on too long.

Given what actually happened to Spartacus, I find this sentence particularly amusing.
