The Siege of Castellax - Cover Art

The cover for C.L Werner's coming SMB novel, The Siege of Castellax, has been leaked. Not too great quality on the image but its enough to show the badass cover by Jon Sullivan.

Iron Warriors are awesome by just being Iron Warriors. But an Iron Warrior Daemon Prince? An automatic win!

Very nice cover by JS (there is a more detailed pic of an iron warrior helm on his facebook so I presume it is part of this book.) What's the low down on the author? I haven't read any of his books or seen much about him.

    C. L. Werner did two Chaos Wastes novels - Blood for the Blood God and Palace of the Plague Lord. The first is really good, haven't read the other. He also wrote the highly popular Mathias Thulman Witch Hunter novels and Brunner the Bounty Hunter novels. He is currently writing the Thanquol novels and also a Time of Legends trilogy on the Black Plague, the first novel of which, Dead Winter, is really , really good. For 40k, he did an Alpha Legion short story for the Victories of the Space Marines anthology, as far as I know.

Here is an interview I did with him a while back: http://www.thebolthole.org/blog/2012...nt-lee-werner/

Palace of the plague lord is a fine read, especially if one is interested in Norsca.

I might also add that Werner excells at writing bad guys (or the ones who are inbetween) so him writing about CSM seems kind of fitting.

Aye, he also wrote the Warhammer Heroes novel Wulfrik. It's sitting on my cabinet waiting to be read once I'm done with Legion of the Damned.
I am currently looking to shift a sizeable amount of Chaos Space Marine models, including Dark Vengeance Cultists/Chosen/Helbrute/Lord, Fantasy Chaos Knights, a Dark Apostle, Fantasy (Finecast) Chaos Lord, Warp Talons, Possessed and painted models with Forge World parts. Send me a message if you're interested!

FYI: per the main 40k rule book, Castellax was an Iron Warrior Fortress world . . . that was over run by Orks
Chaos Space Marines- Death to the False Emperor!

Try Vermintide, one of the first BL books I read (it was the 2nd I think). He wrote it under a pseudnym Bruno Lee.

Great cover and Werner is a fantastic writer so for once this should be a Space ****** Battles book worth reading.

You mean like Battle of the Fang, or Helsreach?

Oh, your spellcheck autocorrect seems to have attacked you.

Indeed. Legion of the Damned was also fantastic and Wrath of Iron should be awesome too.

Werner is my favorite BL author and with the upcoming Chaos models this book is gonna be a must have.

The art seems to depict Warptalons, a hellbrute and obliterators. Nice to see new GW units in BL art.

Re: The Siege of Castellax - Cover Art

My favorite BL author will bounce back & forth between C.L. Werner & Chris Wraight. It really depends on my mood to be honest as for those two it might just boil down to who I'm reading right then & there. There's others who rank up there nicely ranging from Abnett, ADB to McNeill (to name a few).

After finishing Wulfrik, I can safely say that I'm very much looking forward to this.

Wrath of Iron was a disappointment, mainly as i disliked all of the 'Heroes' so much. CL is a great writer, his only blip being in Fear the Alien (which in all fairness isn't a great anthology in it's entirety)

Werner's story was one of the better ones in Fear The Alien but yeah, it was mostly a very lackluster anthology.
