Basically, are they any good at all/worth fielding?
I had initially thought they were, but I've never seen one in an armylist anywhere, so I have to ask, what's the verdict on them?

when the section says Wh40k rules it means it is about the rules of Wh40k, it is not a statement that Wh40k rulez :P
While i understand your attempt to troll, I'm failing to see how my asking if Brotherhood Champions are worth fielding due to their rules makes your post relevant.
Maybe if you'd said, "Hey, this would be better placed in Tactics, not Rules" or something similar to that, it'd have made more sense.

He means that this is the rules section. Your query is for the tactics section, being a tactical question. Someone is not a troll because they inform you of forum rules.
IMO, Brotherhood Champions are fine, but the other HQs are better, so you won't see them in competitive lists.
