    Dual pistols

I have a company commander with a laspistol and plasma pistol, for modelling purposes, and then I was informed that I would get an extra attack as I have to single handed close combat weapons. I have since played it like this for the better part of a year, but I was doing some prep games for a tournament, and my opponent told me that this doesn't work. It is a slightly cheesy, so I let him have it, but I'm going to play hard at this tournament, so is this legal, or have I been playing it wrong.
    Thanks

See page 42 of the BRB for this quote under Normal Close Combat Weapons:

"...in close combat, pistols count as normal close combat weapons..."

It is confirmed on page 29 under Pistol Weapons.

    Two pistols, therefore, equals +1A.

Just add another voice to the chorus, Homer is entirely correct.

Entirely correct, +1 A in close combat. What you don't get is an extra shooting attack or twin-linking for two identical pistols.

I quite like the idea of a guard commander being cheesy for gaining a bonus attack anyway. I mean really, even if u were wrong, what is that single s3 attack going to do anyway?

I'd say no, you don't. You're replacing a CCW with that second pistol...

    Re: Dual pistols

The Company Commander has 3 attacks base. I have always assumed this was including the extra attack. But my codex is buried in moving stuff right now, so I may be wrong.

/Edit: just pulled up Army Builder and that has him down as 3/4 attacks, so I am apparently mistaken. My apologies.

The A stat does includes wargear, unless it states otherwise in special rules.
    3 Attacks
    +1 for 2 CCWs
    +1 for charging!
5 attacks can make a difference. I'd swap the plasma pistol for a power weapon myself..

Fixed that for you. Judging by your breakdown, that is what you meant. (It is also correct.)

Ok thanks, I'll check with the TO just to see if he's ok with it, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't creating rules out of nowhere...

Why would he have a problem with something allowed by the codex. It says you can replace your laspitol OR ccw with a plasma pistol, so the two pistol combo is defintely codex legal. And it's already been shown above that two pistols counts as 2 ccw in close combat. If he does have a problem with it, he's an idiot.

Unfortunately, there isn't a rule against that...
Occasionally accused of being helpful and constructive.
One ring Book to rule them all, one ring place to find them, One ring Codex to bring them all, and in the Darkness future bind them. Time for the unified Marine Codex.

In fact, some would argue the idiot might better fulfill the primary rule. At least for themselves...
