    Trowbridge Area gamers

Hi - I have just started playing Epic Armageddon in the Trowbridge, Wiltshire area, and would like to invite anyone near there to try and get together and have some games. If you're new to it or have never played I have a couple of armies and would be happy to show you how it works. There are about 6 of us currently playing and it would be great if we can get more people playing this excellent system.

Feel free to get in touch to arrange something

I suggest heading over to http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/index.php

it's the mecca of epic gaming, I believe there is a tournament at triple helix wargames in westbury in may, and there is quite a crowd of players based down in Bristol

if you're interested in UK tournaments, check out epic-uk..co.uk for upcoming events

I've certainly been there, but I'm trying to encourage people that aren't as involved in the scene as well. Hopefully the tournament on the 19th will bring some people in as well.

Must admit I'm loving the rules. Such a shame its hard to get some of the armies, but I bet loads of people have a box stashed up in the loft or somewhere.

that's another great reason to head over to taccomms, lots of people trading stuff for reasonable prices as they want it to stay in the community

EpicUK Tournaments are a very different beast to 40k/warhammer ones, there are often people there who have played only a handful of games beforehand, they don't win much at first, but they learn a lot and have a great time, there is a real community spirit with lots of friendly advice and people talking about painting and suchlike

The rules are great, I was a hardline warhammer player for years and years, but the fact that it's so simplified and I don't need to remember that my general has a '+2 sword of thigh snapping' is a real bonus to the game, simple rules breed tactical complexity and the sheer number of times I find myself, mid-turn just staring at the table with no idea what to do, compared to warhammer when I've often played out the battle in my head as the armies set up....

It would be great to see some new faces at the tournaments

Curse you xerxeshavelock, why couldn't you have been around in the early days of the new millennium, when I still lived in Warminster at my parents' and was really keen to get into Epic?

The option may still be open if I go visiting round that way any time soon...
