    hello

Hi I only registered as I had some questions about the warhammer 40,000 models. This might sound stupid but does anyone just get the models because they look good and not for playing the actual tabletop game? I've never played the game in that form and never bought a model or painted it. Basically I'm a noob.
I was thinking of getting some stuff of forgeworld. My question is this, what is the basic stuff that anyone would recommend I buy?
I got into the whole warhammer thing through the dawn of war games and love the eldar. I was thinking of getting the hornet but is it something I should even do with my zero knowledge of even the basics of models and paints.
This probably sounds really daft as most of you guys just get the models to play the tabletop game. If anyone can help thanks.

    Hello and welcome to Warseer

Forgeworld/resin models generally suggest that some existing experience with resin is advised, because some additional work might be involved to get them assembled (cleaning, straightening warped parts etc). That said, it's more of a caveat to avoid a situation where someone who is only used to easy-to-assemble plastic models doesn't get caught unawares and there's nothing stopping you getting one just because you love the look of it, and it's part of the learning experience/fun of the hobby to challenge your skills a bit - if you found some problems you weren't sure about, ask in the Modelling, Painting and Terrain subforum on here, and/or you could keep it as a bit of a side project where you work on it bit by bit over time alongside other plastic/metal models as you feel confident in tackling it. I think pretty much everyone in this hobby tends to have multiple projects on the go at once and it can be nice to hop to something different as inspiration takes you.

hi thanks for the replies. I'm getting the models and will see how I get on. I know I need the paints and brushes but do you need glue?

    Re: hello

Yes but be aware of what materials you use, plastic glue for plastic, super glue for metal, I like gorilla glue the best, I don't have any metal, but I hear even slight changes in temperature can cause them to fall apart.
