Tomb Kings 1200 points, from batallion to full army

    Fantasy Army: BoC
I'm returning to Warhammer FB after almost 10 years and decided Tomb Kings is an interesting and new way to start for me. Also skellies are easy to paint...
I wanted to build a cheap yet relatively competitive (not a "power player" though) army build on the batallion box.
My tactic would be to hold the center with archer regiments while chariots and the sphinx advance from flanks. Tomb Scorpion will try to ambush warmachines.
I'd like to hear if any improvements could be made or obvious flaws are present.

3 chariots, Standad Bearer + Banner of Eternal Flame (Tomb Prince's unit)
    3 chariots, Standard Bearer
    20 archers, Musician
    19 archers, Musician (Priest's unit)
    Warsphinx, Fiery Roar
    Tomb Scorpion
Tomb Prince, great weapon, Dragonbane gem, Chariot
    Priest lvl2 105

Apparently I've managed to create a perfect list based on the amount of criticism (zero).

I'm not a TK player, but it does look pretty standard based on what I've played against. The chariot units are probably a bit small, but then this is a low-point list. I'd think about combining them into one. (This makes the impact hits better I believe) and will make them more durable.

Is there any way of giving the Prince a better save? Just some standard magic armour would help keep him alive once he hits combat.

Or, thinking about it, you could probably stand to drop the Prince entirely and boost your caster up, since dominating magic seems to be the way forward. I'm not sure how many points the priest is, and whether he's likely to earn them back. If you could swap him for a higher level on the mage, or a couple more chariots, it'd probably be worth doing.

    Sorry the advice isn't better!

The thing is there isn't much criticism to make about a list that's based off the battalion set. Your options are quite limited so the advice can be quite limited as well. I think you should try taking a unit of skeleton horse archers to use as a cheap redirector. I think you've got too many points tied up in your core when really you want more points spent on special choices, necropolis knights and tomb guard are the two combat blocks of the army. I don't see the prince adding much to the chariot unit. I almost wonder if you wouldn't be better off running a level 4 liche priest instead.
My goal for the year is to get another 100 models painted.
    So far I haven't touched a brush.

I'd take a big inf. block with a prince in it in a 1200 point army (40-strong). Warsphinx and at least one unit of chariots is always a good idea. I'd also take some light cav. They can perform the functions that a scorpion has as well, with less risk.

If you are going battle box the horse archers do a better job warmachine hunting then the scorpians do. Are these models you own now or is this a "I plan to build this" army.

Thanks for the input. Glad to hear that the Horse Archers are a good replacement for a Scorpion.
The Tomb king is propably unnecessary at these points so I dropped him to beef up both chariot units and an additional lvl1 Priest.
    Here's the revised list:

    4 Chariots, Standard Bearer
    4 Chariots, Standard Bearer
    19 Archers, Musician (Priest here)
19 Archers, Musician (other Priest here)
    Warsphinx, Fiery roar
    6 Horse Archers
    Priest lvl2
    Priest lvl1

    1197 points

60 arrows per turn and some fragile hitting power. Could work against lightly armored low toughness armies I guess. And not too expensive at just a little over 200 euroes.
