2nd Best Assassin; Callidus Or Eversor?

I read several ‘best assassin’ articles to choose my assassin and of course I went with the best choice that all of them went for which is the Vindicare.
However after 8 weeks & 3 tournaments using him while he always hits I never seem to do any damage, my opponent always passes their cover/inv save or amazingly I fail with a turbo penetrator round. Bottom line is I feel I’m not getting my points back for him so I’d like to try one of the other close quarter based ones.

    Callidus
This was my first choice as I liked the idea of appearing dealing damage to a command or devastator squad and then hopefully finishing them with a quick blast from the shredder. However after that she can’t charge so I can’t help but feel that unless I can complete hide her or I targeted a lone unit she’ll be easily cut down by mass fire even in cover. Then again she would act as a good distraction for enemy fire that way?

    Eversor
This guy hits like a ton of bricks, with 4+D6 lightning claw attacks on the charge and fleet, the only problem is getting there! But I can use Grand Strategy to give him outflank or infiltrate if the conditions are right to set him up for a excellent ambush! (this has been answered by GW; ‘The power would affect Crowe and the Assassins as they don't have the independent character rule though chances are this may change in the FAQ‘, it didn‘t.)

Which do you think is better? Has anyone had any experience using or fighting this assassins?

I think the Eversor serves a more specialized function as far as assasins go. Same or more so for Culexus. The callidus is more analogous to the Vindicare in ease of application, so on a list where Vindicare is first, Callidus comes second.

If you care what happens to your assassin after it kills it's target, you didn't pick the right target. It's nice is they survive longer but that's just a bonus.

Caring about the survival expectations of assassins is like caring what happens to sly Marbo after he tosses the bomb. If you got things right, it already filled it's purpose.

True, but the assassin is over twice the cost of the guard's 'advanced demo delivery system' so I'd like to kill at least two targets and get most of the points back?

Vindicare isn't just the best Assassin, he is the only one worth taking. Callidus dies the turn after she appears and the Eversor does nothing equal points of Grey Knights can't do better.

I think you are looking at things wrong on several levels.

Firstly The Vindicare is the only one worth playing. There are perfectly good reasons not to play him, but you definitely don't play any of the others. Anything you'd do with a CC assassin, you'd do better with the same points in Death Cult Assassins.

Secondly, the Vindicare is not about making his points back - he's about Tactical options - killing the commissar to make a blob fold, sniping an apothecary or heavy weapons troopers so you can mostly ignore the rest of the squad, and so on. Truth be told, his most useful role is shooting the heavy weapons out (so you don't need to worry about invulnerable saves, and rarely cover if you pick your targets right. Assuming you target models with 1 wound, and no invulnerable/cover saves he will kill 4 people per battle (he will rarely be out of the 3-5 mark). If you are lucky, he might just make his points back, but that's a best case scenario - if that's the way you are viewing him, then he's probably the wrong unit for you (and again DCA are more likely to be right).

Yeah your probably right, I'll give him a few games and see how he goes. Someone made the suggestion that I'd be better off spending 145pts on an Inquisitor with Rad & crazy grenades to support my terminators from the rear as the grenades can be used both in offence and defence which is just nasty! Then spend the remaining points on his henchmen squad of 2 weaponsmiths and 6 red shirt warrior henchmen to provide me with the anti-tank support that I was using the Vindicare for.
Before anyone mentions DCAs I can't take them due to my 'Forces Of Prospero' theme meaning only warriors, crusaders and weaponsmiths (gun platforms) for my Prospero Spire Guard henchmen units.

Wouldn't Servitors be better than Weaponsmiths?

Plasma Cannon Servitors are generally much better and cheaper than Jokaero.
