Warploque Miniatures review: River troll
So I decided to try out a new model manufacturer, Warploque Miniatures, after having a look at their website. They produce some fantastic stuff, including this river troll, which I fell a bit in love with.

The model is £15, so its not an earth shattering amount, although it is more expensive pound for pound than the GW trolls, I would say its better value as its nicely detailed and has some real weight to it. Its resin and its a solid bit of resin, rather than being a hollow cast. It also looks, asthetically, like a hippo, which is very cool for a river troll, as it looks like something that could naturally evolve into the roll. That gives it a fantasy style look, but also roots it in a less off the wall style.
The model itself comes in 5 bits, which are 2 arms, 2 tusks and the body and legs (in one bit). It went together really well and there were no gaps when attaching the arms. The tusks plug into little sockets in the mouth which makes for a fairly secure hold.
Suprisingly, the bits didn't need washing and took primer straight on. The models are very well textured and hold detail well. I used Coat de Arms shader over the troll and it held the colour well.
Overall, very pleased with this purchase. I'm hoping eventually to get the halflings (I have a pack of 4 ready for paint, just needing to get some more to make a small unit). It would fit in well with any GW system (Mordheim/warhammer) and also with Kings of War. its got a very distictive look which makes it stand out, but it also looks awesome alongside GW models.
Will do scale comparison pictures if people want them,
Overall, I'd give it 4.5 wibbles out of 5.
