New to Warriors of Chaos - help!

Fantasy Army: BoC

So I'm starting a Warriors of Chaos army with my brother in law who's new to the game - I've been playing since 5th edition.

Anyway, I'm new to Chaos and would love some input on our list - I'm trying to make it effective and include what he likes, he likes the idea of a lot of chaos warrior infantry, knights, and hellcannon. We want to have an Undivided list theme but are open to suggestions. Also, trying to keep magic items and magic simple so he can get a feel for the game. Here it is...

Chaos Lord
-Berserker Sword, Armor of Damnation

Sorcerer (lvl 2)
-Dispell Scroll

2 x 19 Chaos Warriors (each led by the characters above)
-2 hand weapons, full command

5 Warhounds

14 Chosen (deployed 7 x 2 as a small flanking unit)
-Halberds

5 Chaos Knights
-full command

1 Chariot

Hellcannon

= 1,999

An alternative we're considering would be to drop the 2nd unit of Warriors and beef up the chosen and 1st unit of warriors...

As I find with these lists its usually much down to opinion, but I like the first list more that higher model count is very useful on the field.

For changes, I would probably take out the warhounds and find the points to buy a Juggernaught for your lord and slap him in the unit of knights makes a very hard wrecking ball unit that is alright at headhunting lords.
But again, just my two cents.

I'd probably find a way to slap MoT on the lord and the Juggernaut idea is a good one, Although to do that you'd lose your theme form the mark so I dunno if that would appeal to you and your brother. Also what Lore are you running on the sorcerer? I'd drop the champion on the knights, its a silly amount of points for +1 attack, and if possible find a way to get the frenzy banner on them, makes them alot more killy

I would also drop the Knight Champion. Given the amount of Irresistible Forces in any given game, I would take the Infernal Puppet over a Dispel Scroll.

Regarding the Chaos Lord: is the Berserker Sword the WoC one (25 Skavenslaves, +1A per enemy in base contact) or the BRB's (10 Skavenslaves, frenzy, can't lose frenzy)?

I may free up some points by removing the knights champion and adding the frenzy banner...

I'll look at the infernal puppet, just on my mobile now...

The lord's sword is the WoC version. If I can find the points the Juggernaut sounds fun. Great model too.

Sorcerer will use either death or shadow...still deciding. Any opinions?

Do you guys think a bsb is necessary?

Im not really sold on the chaos lord for the Warriors. Sure he is a beat stick, but the exalted isn't much worse and does about the same dammage output. Here are some thoughts on the army you made (trying to stay close to what you have and see what I would do with those models).

Chaos lord turns into a exalted with asf sword, enchanted shield, potion of swiftness- this guy has a 2+ save, has 4 attacks that reroll to hit against most people (and if not you have the 5 point potion). You weren't really clear wither it was the 50 point sword out of your book or the 20 point sword out of the rule book. Either way the reroll to hits will give you about the same number of attacks (on average) then the multiple attacks and cost a ton less. Doing that saves you 150 points easy.

If you want to take a chosen champ (which is a good idea IMHO) then make sure you always give him a potion of some kind. Potion of toughness can make him kill a hero lv chr for some one else or the str upgrade makes him take down knights and other big bads pretty fast.

Give someone the flamming banner to be safe.

With the extra points I would consider doing so more things with chaff units and a warshrine.

Oh and next time ya put up a list please say the points next to said unit to save someone trying to help ya time lol.

I rarely use a BSB for my chaos army. If they lose combat you're doing it wrong. The only other thing I've noticed from what you're plans are is that a chaos level 2 can't take shadow. Only Fire or Death.

Also as a nice little surprise I like to give the Chosen Champ the Ruby Ring of Ruin. People just don't see the fireball coming. Really helps clear out those potential redirecters.
