    Possible Ork Rumours

I'm unsure if this is really warranted, but a few things have reached my ears.

As mentioned over in the Autumn of Fliers thread, this image pops up in the new WD:

As largely hinted, this is most likely the Fighta/Bomber kit. But then why focus it on just Orks and not fliers in general?

A few hints as to other finished kits have been floating about for a while, but with no time-frame, so there is a slim chance this is an actual release.
Grape vine has it that there's:

    Big Gunz kit.

Deffkoptas kit - new starter box in June or July, very popular unit, makes sense on GW's part to make a proper release.

Warbuggies/trakk kit - Rumours about this kit have been floating around for ages, supposedly finished.

Megabobs in plastic - pinch of salt, again too many rumours to count that in some ways there are no rumours.

Any validity to any of this? Haven't seen any other info around the interwebs lately about this subject so it could be wild speculation.

    Re: Possible Ork Rumours

I doubt the number of Ork units that require new plastic kits is large enough to warrant a release wave before the next Codex. And we shouldn't wish for one, if there are no units left to update then the book won't be updated either.
Of all the threads in all the forums in all the world you had to post into this one.

All very sensible candidates for plastics.

Reading the rumours over the last few months, there is a sense that there's a lot of stuff that's been waiting to drop for a while. Could be an expensive year...

My guess: orks vs dark angels. you heard the wild speculation here first.

Reasoning: lots of chatter about da but pretty much confirmed no new Dex. Orks and da have a few major battles in fluff so it could well be it. in addition b&c have a da related announcement for 1St of may. Sorry for my grammar, still working out my phone.

no no no no. the ork glyph with the big Waaagh! is a GW store event, check one of their facebook pages. its an event about buying a: character, unit, tank and then playing games against other peopls character, unit, tank, depening on the event. basically, "if you buy models from us you get to play with them!!! BUY BUY BUY!!!" and its called waaagh! because its the GW name for crazy war. (these "games" will have about 5-10 people with their character, unit, tank).
sorry to burst this rumor bubble, as much as I'd like it to be true, this has nothing to do with orks. sorry

Piscina V was a big one and Gazzy and Belial have a grudge. If anything is true about the possibility of the storyline advancing, Yarrik's hunt for Gazzy could be joined by the DA.

    Bah!

Why was it advertised in WD then? That doesn't happen often and not a cryptically as this.

Regardless, please close the thread in this case.

I actually hope gutsmaka is right, because those new models would almost certainly make me want to do some more orks, which I can't really afford right now. I would be leaning in that direction as I don't expect an ork release to jump on us that unexpectedly, even with the rumour clampdown. But those kits would all certainly make sense.

    Re: Possible Ork Rumours

On the whole events are linked to new releases. It is very rare that an event (unless its a global campaign one etc) has no new product tie in. Even Medusa ha Vostroyans, Chaos possesed (shudders.....) and some other bits. I cant imagine theyd do an Ork only event with no new product, its not how they work on a larger scale, individual stores however might.

    Re: Possible Ork Rumours

There are quite a few kits which Orks could see in plastic:
    Big Guns
    Buggies/Trakks
    Mega Armored Nobz
    Deff Koptas
Flash Gitz (easy as an additional sprue for nobz)
Kommandos (easy as additional sprue for boyz)
Tank Bustas (easy as additional sprue for boyz)
    Warboss/ Big Mek

That said, I think the it is just for an event and the Ork Fighta/Bomba.
Why advertise the orks for a flier release? Well, Orks are a rather iconic crazy/go fasta race, especially with the release of Deff Sqwadron. Necrons just came out, so their flier's sales will be boosted by coming in on the end of the current wave, and Space Marines sell enough no matter what. Focus the Fliers on the bright Red orks, and you have a winner.

    Re: Possible Ork Rumours

Normally I would say this is just regional store event silliness, but it's very tempting to read into the title of the third event... "fresh from the factory floor."

I don't think we'll see the other kits until the Ork codex. Everything else in the range is really nice, and they've got to save something for the codex wave.

    Re: Possible Ork Rumours

The back page of the WD shows a 3 way apocalypse battle between Necrons, White Scars and Orks. Not sure what that means but Orks will definately feature, though 2/6/12 is a release slot usually...

Pure speculation, but that could be the day they announce 6th officially. Maybe hyped up as a mega game to get as many people into the store as possible.
1222. It's a stranglehold. Not an Ogryn neck pinch.
1395. Eldar really hate it when you greet them with "Live long and prosper".
1537. My Rogue Trader does not need to announce his arrival with eight hours of orbital bombardment.
1572. The Navigator has Warp Sight. Not Insane-o-Vision.
1594. Flak armor is not just a muscle shirt with the word "ARMOR" stenciled on it.

    Re: Possible Ork Rumours

Ork Big Gunz, Koptas and Buggies are very much in need of an update. Many characters, especially the generic warbosses, could use one, too. Orks are a big seller for GW, AFAIK, so it would be plausible to give them a small nudge, if the current sales numbers of certain kits are thought too small.

IIRC, the 5th has been officially announced in the stade de france during the french games day at the end of April.
So, having an official announcement at the beginning of May could happen.

White Scars, Necrons, and Orks? Fits quite well with the rumor of the Cron, Ork, and SM fliers. White Scars are a speed based chapter, so a good choice to show off a new aircraft, like Salamanders were for the Land Raider Redeemer.

It isn't that cryptic, White Dwarf says it's a day to party and come into the store to join in. Hardly sounds like a new Ork release.
