    The list gets shorter!

    Page 1
    @ Confessor_Atol: What a lot of muscles.

@ EmperorNorton: commented in your plog, love those old ones.

@ Zark the Damned: More old ones, and such a lot of them! Well done!

@ azhagmorglum: Definitly love your style, especially the base! Clean and crisp painting.

@ colonel kane trine: Quality of your pics is ace, and what a lot of models.

@ Red Skullz: Welcome, you managed a lot of points. Great basing, models or pics seem a little low on contrast.

@ Fabius Bile: Great painting even if I have to say that it is not my style.

@ JackDaw: Really like the first pics, the skin on the last one is a little bit meh.

@ Great horned owl: Love those models, great painting (except the champs blade which needsmore shadowing.

@ perplexity: Nice as ever! Great army! You asked about the mini I painted? It is the Hellsmith, an event only mini by Forgeworld.

@ MOMUS: Lovely old models, are you using washes?

@ Morkash: Very much light on these leadbelchers, can`t see much details. This rider is a great one.

@ Laborious: More muscels, what do you guys find in them? The painting is nice.

@ doomscape: Love the dwarfs, don`t like the daemons and those Tombstalkers a very out of focus.

@ Braad: Nice orc shaman, seems to be a little off color?

@ Purplebeard: Very sweet dwarfs as ever, that old chaos warrior is sweet, don`t like the cockatrice (the model).

@ Gargobot: That`s a tasty morsel, have high hopes!

    Page 2

    @ Loki73: Congrats!

@ juicytomatoes: Love that giant fox, where is it from?! Nice work!

    The Muster of Quenelles
    1,000 points (Boys)

    MONTH 8 POINTS: 120pts.
    TOTAL POINTS PAINTED: 622pts.
    JOKERS USED: 2

    UNIT: 6 Peasant Men-at-Arms, Field Trebuchet: 30 + 90 = 120 points.

BACKGROUND/THEME: The standing army of the Dukedom of Quenelles. Proud blue and noble white for my army's colours, with sustaining green as an accent color. Being in the shadow of Athel Loren, I want to play with a connection to Elves-- although nothing explicit like conversions or count as models. I will do this by keeping my palette reminiscent of HE and WE armies and keeping a "clean" look throughout.

BUILD/CONVERSION: The Men-at-Arms and Trebuchet are straight out of the box.

PAINTING: Used the same colour recipes used on my other peasant units.

BASING: Sand painted with Graveyard Earth, drybrushed Fortress Grey, washed with Scorched Brown. Glued Static Grass in clumps to finish it off.

STILL TO DO: Ordered a large oval base for the Trebuchet, so will add that later on. Crew also needs a few details plus their base.

HIGHS: Happy about my leather recipe.

LOWS: Putting together the Trebuchet was a pain. Shoddy pics!! I'm rushing to go to the airport right now! LOL

    DICE ROLL: 3

    Month 8 Pictures:

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 8 (Apr painting and May WIP

Alright folks! Havent posted in a while due to extreme lack of motivation which was a direct result of personal things but never mind.

The last few weeks i finally got going again and disaster. My nice eye disease "uveitis" decided to pay me a visit. Cant bloody believe it!

Rather pissed off to say the least, was getting on nicely with a batch of spear elves as well. Painting is very limited but i can just about manage basecoating so currently going through my entire army with a large brush and boltgun metal. At least its something!

No telling when this will clear up, could be a week, could be a month or more so have no idea when i will post again but dont knock me out of the tale just yet as i know i will beat this again and make the final points total and more.

Keep up the good work everyone and hopefully be here again soon.

    Comments time :

@ confessor_atol : ncie work this month. Some ogres have got pretty characterful faces. I like the way you do rust on your metal. The rocky snow bases are great too. The army shot is quite impressive, and as I said in your own log, the BSB is my favourite of the lot !

@ EmperorNorton : if that is sacrifice of quality over quantity, then you are a liar Great stuff !

@ Zark the Damned : impressive work, and all that just in one month ! It's cool to see all those old models all together and getting some love. Keep it up !

@ colonel kane trine : as usual you managed to paint a lot of points this month, but I guess it's easier with ogres The blood stains on the Skrag model are really great, they really look like dried blood.

@ red skullz : I've already commented on your work in your log, but I'm gonna say it again here. Great stuff, great conversions, and great painting. The bases for the warmachines are a nice addition too. I can't wait to see those trolls finished ...

@ Fabius Bile : Nice model, though I'm not fond of the purple skin. I think your pictures don't do the model justice. I don't mean to be harsh of course. More details about your army progress would be nice also (points so far, points/month, army shots etc...)

@ Jackdaw : nice entry, and the subtle swaps do bring the models up to date, even though they didn't really need it, did they? Those metal corsairs were I think the best models of the previous dark elves' edition, and still match the current range

@ Great horned owl : Glad to see you're recovering from your loss. Those shadow warriors are nice, great detailing and stuff. I'm sure they'll look even better on their scenic bases.

@ perplexiti : I like the toned down and dark look of your army. The metal parts on the hammerers are nicely done.

@ MOMUS : simple and yet effecticve paint scheme. Cool to see old model brought back to life as well. Keep it up !

@ Morkash : your ogres are great. I like the one holding the canon over his shoulder. The thundertusk is impressive, and the base is original like that, going from snowy to greener land

@ laborious : nice unit, the painting and basing are convincing. I particularly like the rusty metal.

@ Doomscape : those are great additions to your three armies. The dwarves show an impressive fire line, while the pink horrors look fiercely mad and dangerous and the serpent-things are just nice (I dont like those models so I can really praise them)

@ Braad : well, nice shaman, and nice crack ^^. I'm jealous because I've got a lot of old models on my workstation and they don't get love like yours

@ purplebeard : good stuff this month, the dwarves are superbly detailed

@ DAGabriel : chaos dwarves are always cool and you don't see them often so it's good you do them. This little chap is great, keep it up !

Ok, more next time; it's getting late here !
Visit and rate my fantasy log : A lot of green against a feeble mind

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 8 (Apr painting and May WIP

    Page 1:

@Confessor_Atol - More great work, nice scavenging of bits from the other kits. Army shot looks fearsome!

@Emperor Norton - Nice idea to do some converting to the old sculpts, just having a few different heads in there really makes it look like there are a lot more than just 2 poses in the unit. The painting is crisp and effective, and given that you’ve managed to churn out over 40 models is, I think, an excellent months work.

@zark the damned - Wow, that’s a lot of models! Now that he’s surely painted every model in his own collection have you sneakily hired in colonel kane to paint your stuff too?! I particularly like Braganzas Besiegers, they were always one of my favourite DOW units and your black and yellow scheme works brilliantly on them.

@azhagmorglum - Really, really beautiful troll. Love the vibrancy of the colours, and you should rightly be proud of the scales as they look fabulous!

@Colonel Kane Trine - Nope, obviously brought up another case of ogres from your model cellar! The gore on skrag is very well done, and your maneaters look great too.

@Red Skullz - Welcome to the tale! That Big Boss conversion is brilliant! I particularly like the posing of the photo. It looks like the shame is going, “Curse you Gork/Mork! Why did you have to make me so short!”

@Fabius Bile - The verdigris is well done, and I love the freehand on his backside, but I’m not sure how many people will get to appreciate it, unless you plan on accosting people in the street and going, “Do you want to look at my ogres ****?” Admit it, that’s what you’re going to do, isn’t it?

@Jackdaw - Excellent work once again. That corsair champion looks badass. I do love the scheme you’ve used on this army.

@Great Horned owl - Nice work, and your conversion seems to have worked bloody well as I can’t tell which ones faramir? Is it bachelor number 3?

@Perplexity - I think they look great! I didn’t actually notice they were conversions until I read your post properly. Was that from the Grudge of Drong campaign? I recall there being an Orc one around the same time, or were the two sides in one campaign? Army shot looks epic by the way.

@Momus - Some nice scarvets again, and I like the fact that your Slann looks REALLY pissed off that someone stole his palanquin and now he has to ride around on a rock his insurance company rented for him whilst they process his claim! The feet are nicely done, and I can’t tell what, if anything, else you’ve sculpted on him, so I’d say you’ve done very well. Oh, and good luck in the tourney!

@Morkash - Great conversion on those lead belchers, that thunder fist is hilarious. The thundertusk is great, I really like the fur and the basing.

@doomscape - Nice stuff. The dwarves and tomb king stuff looks great, and I really like those horrors, the pink is very well done.

@Braad - Congrats on finally getting him done, he’s turned out very well. 7 years is nowhere near the oldest unpainted model I’ve got. I think I’ve got models that haven’t even seen the light of day in 7 years.

@Purplebeard - Once again, those old sculpts look awesome, particularly now they’re based. Bugman and purplebeard jr. look great too.

@Dagabriel - I think it’s very nicely painted, regardless of any other considerations, and I hope your condition clears up soon.

@Gargotbot - You should have lied and said he’s fully painted, and brilliantly, it’s just this a picture of him silhouetted at dusk! Look forward to seeing you get started on him next month.

    @Loki - Congrats! Sympathy! Understandable!

    Page 2:

@Juicytomatoes - Really, really nice work. That white is so incredibly crisp. Oh, and can I just point out that It’s got 3 eyes and 3 tails. That is NOT a fox. What kind of stuff are you throwing out that the urban foxes round your way look like that?!?

@Saulot - Loving seeing your army now it’s coming together. They look fantastic all ranked up together. Trebuchet looks excellent so far. What is your leather recipe, out of interest?

@Laborious: Yes that's the one, if I remember correctly, I wasn't playing fantasy at the time, it was Dwarfs vs High Elves, with a bit of Dwarf vs Dwarf rivalry too.

I'm looking forward to putting my whole army together, this is the third year I've done the tale, so when I'm done there'll be a big shot with all three years in it!

    @Labourious, @perplexititi
The dwarf is from The grudge of Drong campaign. (Queen Helga and High Elves fighting a war against Drong).
At the same time (5th edition) there was a campaign called Idol of Gork. (Orc & Goblins vs Empire)
(I have never played either of them, but I have got the old White Dwarf magazines. )
Owl can spell his name ("Wol") and the word "Tuesday" (so that you know it isn't Wednesday). He can also read, although only if no-one is looking over his shoulder.

@ confessor_atol – Back to work you lazy git!

@Emperor Norton- great effort, and nice bold colors and clean lines. I’m glad to see someone using their empire from the old starter box set.

@Zark the darned- Man o’ man, I loves me some DOW. Your engineer, Leonardo, is one of my favorite GW models of all times….

@- Azhagmorglum- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love your green skins. Great troll, and I can’t wait to see your shaman. I bet he’s
    ace.

@Col. Kane- Looks like the Kane train keeps chugging on. Fantastic output, and great models. Your conversions really bring the ogres home, and the chaos ogres will make great maneaters.

@red skullz- I love the successful integration of old and mew model ranges. It can go so wrong, but you make it work consistently! Weird boyz make me smile

@Fabius- Nice looking Golfag. I’ve been worried to buy the model because of all the bad press surrounding finecast. Nice job on him! Did you have to do much prep?

@Jack Draw- I’m always excited to see your work. It looks like you’ve started the tedium or line troops too. They’re looking great, and I Iove that mage.

@great owl- Man those old shadow warriors sculpts are so much better than the new ones it’s almost silly. Great job on them. Real classy!

@perplexity- Congrats on breaking 2k. Really nice dawi. Fantastic army pic. I’m a slow baser too.

@momus- My primary opponent is a lizard player, and everytime I see a frog I quake in fear. I really like what you’ve done with the floaty rock.
And, as always, its nice to see classic models.

@Morkash- Wow, you’ve had a productive month. I like your Lead belcher musician conversion. Seeing your thunder tusk makes me want to paint my stone horn. Great work

@Laborius- Nothing but class. Great unit. Clean painting, nice basing and a movement tray! Good effort great outcome. Done and dusted!

@Doomscape- wow, I’m always impressed by a great output, and yours is that. Very nice work and a very good standard. Death to grey plastic!!!!!

@Bradd- Nice Shaman you got there! And thanks, as always, for your work on this tale. You the man!

@purple beard- Always a nice job, PB. I love the old cockatrice, Jugger, and classic dwarves. I need to get a copy of that bugman for my KEG
    of Doom!

@DAgabriel- Nice CD, I keep playing with the idea of ordering some, but boy are they pricey

@gargobot- I have a metal one of those too. Man talk about a pain to pin. Nice work

    @Loki73- Congrats man! That’s a conversion of sorts…

@juicytomatoes. Always the most interesting minis. I really like your theme and the models you’ve chosen for it. Nice paint too!

@Saulot- Fantastic bretts! I like the clean paint and the nice bases. I can’t wait to see what they do with the blessing in 8th ed. Is your army going to be knight free?

Some more comments to be done!

@DAGabriel: Cheers mate I think it`s the pics

@DAGabriel & colonel kane trine : They are from Riceball Miniatures

I'll come back and comment if I can. My four month old has just been in and out of the hospital so I'm pretty busy at the moment.

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone.

    Comment time!

confessor_atol : I love your skin recipe! They look like they've been walking under the sun for a bit and got sunburned! Great looking army!
Emperor Norton : Lovely old minis! And great crisp work!
Zark the darned : Massive effort from you this month! And it's great to see classic minis get a good paint job!
azhagmorglum : Hope you post the Shaman soon! The Troll looks great!
colonel kane trine : Your Ogres are filthy!!! Sent a shiver up my spine, so great job! And good call using those new wolves, they look pretty sexy!
red skullz : Welcome aboard! Can't wait to see more of your classic O&G!
Fabius Bile : Golfag is a packrat! Impressive attention to detail! His trousers are flyyyy! LOL
Jack Draw : Corsairs have a somber air about them that feels utterly perfect! Great job as usual! The Sorceress mini, however, does not offer itself well to your painting skills. *meh*
Great horned owl : Glad to see you back painting again. I still love your colour scheme.
perplexiti : The Throng is looking great! I'm jealous now. Oh, and I really like your muted yellow scheme!
MOMUS ; You army makes me smile for the right reasons! I love those old Lizardmen minis and you're doing a great job with them!
Morkash : Great job on the Thundertusk! I really like how you did its base!
Laborius : More Ogres! No complaints, though! Great job on the standard's verdegris!
Doomscape : Wow, you were busy the last month! Impressive speed vs. quality standard!
Braad : Congrats for finally painting that Shaman after 7 years! Great job! And thank you for keeping the ToFP table.
Purplebeard : Great looking minis all around! Love that chunky Jugger!
DAGabriel : Very nice mini! And the paint job really pulls it together, thematically.
Gargobot : Oooooooh... Can't wait to see you paint that thing!!!
    Loki73 : Congrats!
juicytomatoes : How can you ask us to disregard that Giant Fox??? It is too awesome to be ignored!!! I really wish you would post an army shot! Your Nippon Halflings is one of the most interesting armies here!
Saulot : Take better pics next time! LOL
gogs78 : Hope you get well soon, man! I just love your HEs and your painting in general. We have a few more months left, you're gonna get that army done!

    Some replies:

Laborius : I do my leather as: basecoat Scorched Brown, Graveyard Earth, Bleached Bone progression, heavy glaze with Scorched Brown, tone it down with Snakebite Leather, light glaze with Scorched Brown, highlight with Scorched Brown + Bleached Bone.
colonel kane trine : Thank you! I did my wood as: basecoat Scorched Brown, Graveyard Earth, Bleached Bone progression, wash with Gryphonne Sepia, highlight with Bleached Bone. (Will touch it up with spot glazing of Scorched Brown on the joints, and highlight with Bleached Bone + Skull White on extreme areas.)
confessor_atol : Thank you! I'll have Knights in this army too! I'm just building up my painting skills before tackling those high-born snobs. LOL
red skullz : haha thanks man! I'll have a few of them ready for next month (I hope). I've been itching to paint them for so long but decided to be really disciplined about it and get the grubby peasants out of the way first.

Hey all, this is my first post in the tale and while i am joining late i hope to make up for it with some hard work ( a man can hope). I will be doing Dwarfs based on Karak Eight Peaks, so red/black color theme. Below as some early wip for a Thane and the first 10 crossbow's that i am working on for May.
