    a) "Target a spot on the ground or a model within LoS and range." Explain what you feel is "not written well" or in any way unclear. Because objectively this is the clearest rule in the whole book.

    b) It's used everywhere, as it should be. See what I did there? I have no clue who uses what rule anywhere. Neither do you. Any claims about what a majority does or not are insubstantial. Even if they prefer a liberal approach to rules at your place it doesn't set any precedent, and it certainly is no reason for name-calling.

    c) People who ignore and implement rules at their leisure are called cheats in my neck of the woods. Call them out and establish an etiquette or consensus if you're in a group of regulars, or find a different gaming environs if the majority acts like that. This behaviour however is the exact opposite of following the rules as they are undeniably written, and has nothing to do with cannon.

I feel its not written well because:
    - it allows you to target things you can't see at all behind impassible terrain, hills and large targets (good for cannon)
    - it disallows you to hit targets you can clearly see (e.g. peg knight, whom you will always overshoot) (bad for cannon)
    - I quite like TLoS, since it makes things easier, but drawing it to a specific point in the ground is much more grounds for argument than drawing it to a target. Like when you start looking though your mini's legs. And please remember that weapons / banners / some other bits don't count for TLoS, so things like "well if dude X was holding his weapon differently I'd be able to see point Y" WILL crop up.
    - In conclusion, very little to do with cannon balance (good and bad points, and you can 'waddle' your units to alleviate the bad ones) but a massive potential source of arguments, counter-intuitive play situations, and bogs the game down massively.

I don't hold a dozen major tournaments a year at my house. Although it would be cool if I did/could.

As I said, I don't particularly mind playing by RAW. However, the people who insist on enforcing it when it suits them are very often the ones who complain and rage when you use it to your advantage. Like shooting them through impassible terrain. But you are right that such things should be clarified before the game starts.

Don't forget the good looks! But yeah, no need to fight over cannon. Unless they're targetting you.
