Thread: Random Charge Ranges

That I won't disagree with. The difference between a M4 model and a M6 model become much less pronounced. It can alter the balance of power between the different warbands that existed before; altering the tactics they rely on.

Though I might support random charge distances, I am under no illusion that if they were to be employed, that the rest of the system would not require further adjustment.

i think this is good because (1) high M is a huge advantage in itself and (2) high M tendes to go along with high I which is also a very big advantage. in fact, mordheim is the gw game where I is the most important.

also it will mean that high m warbands still get most of the charges by that m3 warbands (like dwarves) will also get in a few

It would certainly make a difference in tactics. With my dwarf warbands, I often got off quite a few charges. You do this by making a wave strategy. Wave 1 is composed of beardlings, who pray that they only get knocked down or stunned, and in you counter charge. But I'd prefer to have some randomness, so that charging enemies might (gasp) actually fail a charge or two, or so that a cocky elven ranger might get charged for wandering too close.

I really enjoy these new random charges, the multitude of choices and situations arising from this is awesome.

what you should do however is to reduce the benefit of getting the charge.

in 8th the changes also included

Always fight in Initiative order and you only gain +1 combat resolution for charging (cavalry not included).

In mordheim you do not have combat resolution and should just be happy to be getting into close combat quicker.
