Title really says it all. And if they are fine for priming models what brands would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!

I use duplicolor sandable auto primer for mine and never had any issues with details or anything.

Another thumbs up for Duplicolor from me. Used some on my Word Bearers and it's fine.
I had heard that FW actually recommends using car primer on their resin models. Is this true?
No idea about GW kits, but my step dad uses car primer and proper paint when he builds kits from other manufacturers. So, it definitely works well, we've never had any problems with it.
That comment about FW recommending it has been around for ages, I'm not sure if it's canon or just some anecdotal evidence of some FW staff preferring car primer. Either way, my most recent batch of FW minis haven't had any issues of mold release messing up the two primers I've used on them (GW and Duplicolor). Even the couple that I forgot to wash first are peachy (but I still highly recommend a wash in the warm soapy goodness!).
Car primers tend to be more aggressive than your regular consumer primers, so they will cut through any oils and release compounds that are on resin models (less effective against release powders though).
Duplicolor is a good one, which you can normally find at your local big box stores. Others you will want to read the package closely as some of them have fillers to help cover pin holes in the car. On large surfaces, that is a good thing - but one that I used years ago covered up a lot of the detail.
I use them on my resin models...just one word of warning and advice. Car primer is intended to smooth over cracks and blemishes...so use one or several thin coats rather than a thick covering...otherwise you will see it fill in the model's detail.
My two cents,

Krylon Grey or Ruddy Brown primers are really great. The Ruddy Brown makes a really good base for dark reds.
Another good primer is the Krylon Ultra Flat Camo spray paints. They are formulated for plastics, dry EXCEPTIONALLY smooth and flat, and the colors are really good, being black, dark brown, forest green, olive drab, and khaki.
i vote krylon too its what ive used for years but i suggest swapping out the fan spray tip from another spray can, i dont like it one bit but love the paint.
i use the white sandable primer and a basic flat black

There's a PDF on the FW site covering this at http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Download.../resintips.pdf
We recommend priming your model with a fine matt car body primer, such as can be found in most hardware stores.![]()
