I'm most curious to see how the Word Bearers will be handled now that cross codex armies are not possible anymore (like daemonhunters and witchhunters) and Chaos Daemons having their own codex (as that happened after the 3.5 CSM legions codex).

My speculation will be a character that turns cultist into lesser daemons. Much like Typhus will allow for cultist too become plague zombies.

I hope Alpha Legion gets a BIG facelift, that "everyone infiltrates" schtic is getting pretty old. IW get hacked tanks, WB get daemons and daemonamncers and demagogues. NL get.....raptors? Hrm...Well it's always seemed to me that AL gets the shortend of the stick. Infiltrate and WS2 BS2 cultists. In previous editions all CSM veterns got infiltrate. Who knows how relevent it will even be in the new edish. AL's alure used to be that you had a little more leaway fluffwise because very little was known about the AL. Now that the big secret has been revealed we are left with very little. In 'Legion' there was not a group of Alpha Legionaires larger than 10 in the whole novel. Maybe in the first big fight but they were wearing chainmail and spinning halebards. If all legions get cultists now (which is awesome) AL needs a big payday. But saddly the fluff gives us very little. Traitor IG would be cool I guess but only with the bits. I do not fancy filing imperial eagles and skulls off like 40 plastic lasguns. Unless we get a few imperial tanks along with the IG. FW does make the bits. Imperial tanks are kinda the IW's thing. The only thing of note I can think of is the 'Effriti Stealth Squad' and the notion that the AL had a large and complete issue of TDA on account of them being the newest legion and TDA being 'new' tech during the heresy yadda yadda yadda. IF the effriti stealth squad is an auto-deapstriking flying terminator squad I will be a happy guy.

Been some time since I've checked up on this poll. Interesting to see the World Eaters pull up to 2nd place! I'm still amazed at the love for the Thousand Sons!! In about 2 months time (and a few days) we'll have to start another poll and see what Legion players want to build once our new Codex hits the shelves!!!

which Legion(s) are players most pumped to get some new rules/models

I mean, Thousand Sons have never really had awesome rules, even in 2nd ed they were just basically overcosted regular CSM. TS have always been player favorites for many people, the only real reason why so few play them(the few brave heroes) are the very crappy rules...

I myself have played Alpha Legion since 2nd ed, but also had TS back then as my second choice because they were cool(damn expensive Jes Goodwin TS sawn off heads + SM librarian bodies), I would die to play them again! (though I hope they'll be a bit cheaper this time around)

This is my personal order of interest and some points...my top 3 and then a tie for the next 4 then Thousand Sons and Black Legion dead last

*Death Guard - First for obvious reasons I have a lot invested in them.

*Night Lords - Was always my first CSM army of choice but then they got taken out of the codex before I could finish that army.

*Word Bearers - I think they could be fluffed up more and be more interesting with Dark Apostles and Possessed CSM and Daemons

*World Eaters - needs fluffing up but I think they can still be fun and interesting still.

*Alpha Legion - a lot of interesting rumors on them being able to infiltrate enemy units kinda of like whats going on in the HH book Deliverance Lost.

*Emperor's Children - just needs to be refreshed again with the options that make them stand out...sonic weapons and such on more than Noise marines...rumor has it Noise Havocs are in order.

*Iron Warriors - tied with Emperors Children in my interest but I can see them with Thunder Hammer storm shield Terminators in the rumored new 16 fig Chaos Land Raider.

*Thousand Sons - Sorcerers need more fluff...and some we'll be back like necrons where I read in one of the books the Ruberic Marine armor was reforming itself as long as the sorceror was still around.

*Black Legion - really lost its individuality trying too hard to be a conglomerate of all the legions it lost its identity as the Sons of Horus they don't stand out and they need to do something to make them stand out as an individual Legion again rumor has it that there will be several Sons of Horus Special Characters showing up as HQ choices not just Abadon.

Mr Dead Blue Clown did it for me, could never decide which Legion to collect untill he wrote 5 amazimg stories about First Claw.

Hope there are new raptor models coming out in the next few months.

Thousand Sons.

Love their look, and their back story. Loved it even before reading the books about them. Love them even more now. I'm looking to create an entire company over time.
